I agree, but that's also not what he's talking about. You have to keep one eye on the next season and the next.

They will absolutely load up for 2019, but it's stupid to mortgage 2020. The whole point of having Mahomes is that you have a 15 year window.

I'll just put this here.

Trading Ford, cutting/trading Houston and then cutting Berry, Sorenson, Murray and Ragland gives you the following cap space.

2019: $44 million
2020: $98 million

In 2020....you could realistically get out of the following deals and save cap space.

Watkins - $14 million in cap savings and $7 million in dead money.
Fisher - $9.5 million in cap space and $2.5 million in dead money.
Erving - $3.25 million in cap space and $1.4 million in dead money.

Your major free agents that you're looking at bringing back that year would be Hill (if not already extended), Fuller and Chris Jones.

Good post. You could easily fit Bell in there in a contract like Watkins and have a healthy exit option in year 3.

Plus if you get a 2nd round pick for Ford.....that gives Veach 9 picks to hopefully add quality depth and a couple of starters that will be cheap for the next 4-5 years.
