****2018-2019 Official NBA Regular season thread****

Didn't see anybody starting this thread so I guess I will.

Anti climatic season starts tonight and my prediction is GS vs Boston in the NBA Finals.

First 2 Games tonight on TNT with Philly vs Boston and OKC vs GS. Westbrook is out tonight so that game will be a blowout most likely.

Yup.

That new TV deal is what fueled the god-awful Deng/Mozgov signings.

And the NBA was so scared of what was going to happen to the cap that they actually staggering the floor over the first couple of years because they didn't want the entire league to see a 30% boost in mandatory spending in a single year (knowing full well that it would get FAs in that season vastly overpaid and hamstring teams going forward), so they eased into the new salary floor over a couple of seasons.

Smart leadership by the NBA even if it still wasn't smart enough to prevent the Lakers from being idiots.

They're not banking space and looking to spread it out - they're dumping role players like Iguodala to make room for the higher ceiling guy. Because they can.

Depth is overrated. Besides, 'hope they're healthy in the playoffs' is what everyone needs, including teams that lack star power. There's not a contender out there that can lose 2 of their top 3 players, regardless of how 'top end' those players are, and function at a high level.

I think GS traded and signed Russell because Klay is out for the season and they are going into a new arena that will print money for them and the owners didn't want to tank.

Depth is not overrated during a long 82-game regular season. It is needed to load manage your stars (ie Kawhi who missed double digit games) and still win games. Playoffs it means less because of the short rotations but you still need some so your stars can rest. We saw this with Lebron the last few years when he would go out and then they would go down by double digits.

Seth Curry signs with Dallas. Only shooter left is Danny Green. If Lakers don't get Kawhi, they won't have many good options to fill out the roster.

Oh well they have 2 top 5 players. Make it work.

They'll be fine. A lot of bench guys are still available, Cousins is still there as well and I'd imagine Korver and JR Smith will make their way there before the start of the season after getting bought out. Just put some decent to good shooters around LeBron and you've got a championship contender with AD there anyway.

And just like that, LeBron adds a good shooting bench guard.

I love Brogdon as a player, though there are lingering health concerns and the question of how much he benefited from playing with Giannis and Middleton.

I don’t mind losing the 2nd round picks. It’s the first rounder that sucks.

I'm a Bucks guy and didn't want to lose him. The picks, however, were nice (and surprising).

Why? We would just take another white PF/C.

Being a Pacers fan is the worst. They are the Chiefs of the NFL before Mahomes. Consistently mediocre.

Lakers/Kawhi appears inevitable. We're about to witness the beginning of the greatest triumvirate in history.

What does the depth situation on that potential “greatest triumvirate in history” team look like?
