At least with QB you can argue it's an important position the OT thing makes no sense. But no we won't take a QB regardless, Pioli is not going to admit he ****ed up already.
I know this I don't discuss drafting QB's much. |

You don't think OT is an important position?

I'm guessing it's a poorly worded post.

I think it's a great idea to take a RT high. If he doesn't make it you at least have a guard.

Back on topic, there's no way it happens, even though if CC is the BPA on the board, it should.
Personally, I don't think that Cassel would respond well to the team drafting a young QB. I don't think he's got the mental toughness to deal with it. Christ, we're talking about a guy that pushed away one of his offensive linemen who was trying to help him up, and recently got pissy at Gretz at the suggestion he had played two bad games - compiling a combined 50 QB rating between the two. Then he goes on to say that he had graded out perfect in the Buffalo game, making no mental errors - in a game in which he threw 4 INT's, and had a 35.4 QB rating. Looks like the organization is coddling the guy because he can't handle criticism. |

I thought Croyle was supposed to save our ass?
As I have said for three years now, it does not matter who the QB is if he is laying on the ground. The OL needs addressed. It doesn't need to be done thru the draft, in fact, free agency would be better. A no-name RB can become great behind a good line and a QB looks better when given time to throw. Look at Brady, looks normal when the line doesn't protect but looks like a god when they do. Same with Peyton. Every team tries to pressure Manning but is line usually gives him enough time. An OL can also help control the clock late in the game. This helps the defense tremendously. But what do I know? Let's draft another D-lineman. It has worked so well in the past!

Just because our line is bad, doesnt mean you spend the #3 pick there. If there was a Willie Roaf type guy in this draft, I would be the first guy to be on that bandwagon, but there isnt. There just isnt. This is the biggest reason I have been backing Suh all year, he is the DL equivalent of having a Willie Roaf. We need to come out of the draft with a game changer at 3 and I just dont see an olinemen that is that guy at 3 this year. 1) Suh...Berry 2a) Mike Iupati...Jerry Hughes 2b) Arelious Benn...Brandon Spikes 3) George Selvie...Tony Moeaki 4) Myron Rolle... 5a)bpa 5b)bpa 5c)bpa That could give us some more pieces. Im sure there are many here that can put up a better mock, but that would definetly help Just because we have spent on the DL in the past doesn't mean we pass on the best prospect at DL since Reggie White. |

I agree, if there was some once in a lifetime left time this year, I wouldn't have a problem at that point in thinking about moving Albert and drafting him. But Albert has picked up his game after a slow start and is looking just fine now. Hell, if there was a Steve Hutchinson in this draft, I'd even be ok with taking a guard that high IF it was a Steve Hutchinson. THERE ISN'T. Second, the line has been pretty solid the last 4 games and I think having some continuity this offseason will help it. Do we still need a few upgrades? Sure. But more than likely Charles is going to go over a grand and Cassel has had plenty of time the last few weeks. So we go where we need the most help on the whole team IMO, and that's safety. We do NOT have a game changer at safety. And I think someone noted recently that Troy Polamalu was worth something like 14 points to the Steelers defense. We know the difference Bob Sanders and Ed Reed make the those defenses when they are in there. So for whatever reason safety is really undervalued but can make a gigantic difference in terms of the dynamics on defense. |

It's important to note that the O-line has gone from horribly bad at the beginning of the year to average. We all of a sudden have good enough play at RG (Wade) & RT (O'Callaghan). Now if we just address Center and possibly LG (don't know if Waters will be back or not) and we have something. That doesn't mean that Wade & O'Callaghan arn't replaceable. But with our other needs, they're serviceable for the time being. |

"We are not taking a QB in the first round"
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman"! Sounds kind of a like. (Which on a side note how can Clinton keep his job as president after the "Mess On The Dress" but Tiger loses all his sponsors for teeing up a dozen or so babes....C'mon Man!) I digress. PhilFree ![]()
