Battle for the top two AFC seeds

The current standings:

1. 10-2 New England
2. 9-3 Pittsburgh
3. 8-4 Kansas City
4. 7-5 Jacksonville
5. 9-3 New York
6. 8-4 Baltimore.

Remaining tough games for New England:

Chicago, Green Bay, Miami

Remaining tough games for Baltimore:

Houston, New Orleans

Remaining tough games for New York:

Miami, Pitt, Chicago

Remaining tough games for Pitt:

New England, Baltimore, New York

Remaining tough games for KC:

San Diego, Tennessee

Notice that the other contenders on this list are going to play each other. A lot. It's entirely possible these teams could cannibalize each other while we sit back and laugh and reap the reward.

If the Chiefs take care of business and beat the losers on their schedule we could very well claim a first-round bye.

Again, I don't read much into single games, but taking a longer view...

Evidence wise, taking a full season view, Cassel has had a better season, but they aren't that far apart. Cassel is more consistent at eliminating mistakes and has better efficiency stats. Sanchez has some come from behind games. Neither one is there yet.

I also go by what I see on the field. This is more subjective and different people will have different opinions. But I think Sanchez has far more natural talent. I also think he is further down on his learning curve and has more time to develop it. I think Cassel is a harder worker. I'm not sure Rex Ryan is the kind of coach that will hold Sanchez accountable and develop him to his maximum potential. I think we'll get every bit out of what Cassel has to give and maybe a little more.

I am simply pointing out the flaw in that argument.

Until this year, Lloyd has been a big disappointment, and Edwards has always been inconsistent, but on sheer talent, Edwards is better.

I'm no Lloyd fan but Edwards is all potential at this point. He's just not near as good as he should be. So while my argument could be flawed I still think I'm right about the two players.

Looked to me like while you were pointing out the flaw in the argument you were jumping to conclusions and almost putting words in my mouth. Perhaps I was wrong on that.

VARSITY
This week is a huge opportunity.

We obviously need to win.

Steelers need to lose to Bengals (down 7-0 in the second quarter right now!)
Ravens need to lose to the Texans.

We would be tied with the Steelers, record wise. We would be ahead of the Ravens, if and when they jump the Steelers in their division.
