Could be Niangs tape or they were hoping to get Harrison in the 1st. If that would have happened they would spent the money on a edge.

Think he wanted to have 2 tackles that could play significant snaps. If Niang or the 3rd round rookie earn a starting spot great. But they are not going to cost us a season.

It would seem that the front office was waiting to see how the draft shook out. If something happens and you get one of the premier tackles, I don't think this move is made. Wanya Morris has upside, but this is clearly an insurance policy.

There is no such thing as a bad one year contract.

It's obvious they wanted Harrison. That didn't happen so they got Morris who they can groom for a year whilst Smith and Taylor are veteran tackles who can play at their NATURAL places. Only niave idiots were convinced that Taylor, a career RT, can just come here and be a productive LT off the bat. That was never likely to happen. OBJ played LT in college and played LT for the Ravens for a whole season so his case was completely different. I'm glad Veach has more sense than the clowns who tried chastise me during the draft .

I don't see how he could start this season and it not be bad news for either Taylor or Morris. I'd understand Morris since he's a rookie but there's no way Smith should end up our LT regardless of how many snaps he has there

Him starting would not at all be a reflection of Taylor.

Morris was never going to be your week 1 starter.

Andy has always been a "best 5" guy. That's his philosophy, and it's why they made this move.

I really don’t see the problem with this. Smith was a decent LT that struggled last year bc of multiple reasons. Old QB falling apart, bad injury etc.

If he’s even a marginal LT it’s a big upgrade for us. It’s Orlando at like 1/3 of his asking price. Also Taylor at RT isn’t bad if that happens. 2.5% pressure rate there last year.

The problem was both tackles struggled massively last year until the shit SB field that negated both teams pass rushes.

Even improving one tackle spot is critical. And the money really isn’t that bad, especially for a starting LT.

So wait do you think Smith will be the starting LT week 1 with Taylor RT? I think it will be Taylor LT Niang at RT until he gets hurt (I thought he was a decent RT the brief time he played)

I have no idea what the plan is because there's just so much conflicting information.

I do however beleive that Andy will put his best 5 out there, and if Smith starts at LT, it's because they think he's one of the 5 and it just makes more sense to keep those 2 at their normal side.

Low and behold the Chiefs probably called Dallas for a trade up not for Mazi Smith.

It was probably for Anton Harrison

He's got to be an upgrade over OBJ.

Risk his injuries hinder his effectiveness

Reward a hell of a lot better Left Tackle than what we had.
