Offensive Tackles

I'm not going to overreact as it's only been 2 games but boy has their play has been meh at best. I'm not too worried about Taylor as I am Smith who looked like a declining player in Tampa. Everyone says it was because he was injured and maybe he still is but this has to get better if we're going to repeat as champs

And you think everybody is just supposed to shut up and take the unfair treatment in comaprison to literally every other team in the NFL? Taylor has to essentially play with a different set of rules than all of the other OTs in the league?
He’s still lining up illegally based on what I’ve seen. It’s a simple issue to fix so why not fix it?

Absolutely.

"Making an example" is a demonstration to the rest of the league.

They CLEARLY aren't using Taylor as any sort of example. They're just punishing him for making them look bad. That's a MASSIVE distinction.

And as you noted - he's obviously addressed it to at LEAST be lining up the same as anyone else. Moreover, in the process of 'making an example of him' they also threw a phantom holding penalty at him and another one that was pretty soft.

This has nothing to do with anything to improve the play in the league or level the playing field. Nothing to do with a demonstration to other OTs.

It's a rat-****ing and that's it. The end. Full stop.

And some would have us just grab our ankles and be cool with it.

This sort of reminds me of the defensive holding call on Bradberry in the Super Bowl.

“You can’t call that in that situation!” “They hadn’t been calling that all game and decided to call it at the end to give the Chiefs the win”. Now we sound like those bitch ass Eagles fans.

The fact of the matter is that it WAS a hold.

The fact of the matter here, as far as anyone can tell, is that Jawaan IS still lining up ilegally.

Simplest fix here is to not leave it up to the refs. If you do so, you’re just giving them the option to rat **** you when they see fit.

So's 80% of the league on any given snap.

I'm not going to 'fix it' until the rest of the league is held to the same standard as we are.

They very VERY clearly aren't.

Any DB that gets his arms extended and pulls a jersey away from a body on a play in front of an official is going to have that flag thrown.

These aren't even remotely analogous situations. This isn't situation specific (which could, theoretically, be universally applied) - it's PLAYER specific.

One. Single. Guy. In the entire league.

It's one dude getting this treatment and not to make an example for other players to follow, but just to ****ing pick on him.

And your position is just lunacy. This is an acceptance of a billion dollar organization using Kangaroo Court logic.

I don't disagree and I am sure he is going to continue to live on that edge. But as others have pointed out it is happening league wide every game, almost every snap and only Taylor is getting flagged for it.

We just want some consistency.

Andy and Patrick have already spoken out about it to the media. What would you have us do? Send Clark to Goodell's office and demand they stop?

We can try to do what we will but it won't change anything and everyone here knows it

Clark Hunt is the chairman of the NFL Finance Committee.

You think sending a memo is the extent of the influence he wields? Andy Reid is among the most well respected coaches in football, not just from players, but fans, media and other coaches. You think he can't get in someone's ear and push the issue?

Do I think we'll be privy to all those conversations? No. Do I damn sure hope they're happening and with some level of righteous anger? You're damn right I do.

But I'm certainly not gonna get to where you are - "Eh, i guess we just need to be okay playing by a different set of rules than everyone else..."

I think you send a tape to the NFL supporting your public statements. if it does not work you go public with tapes showing that one sided officiating. They are still very worried about public perception. Which is really how we got to this point, the over reaction to the week 1 criticism.

The NFL is going to be backed into a corner of either making it a point of emphasis and calling it on all teams or backing off Taylor. The league clearly sent a memo out in week 2 to watch Taylor. They can just as easily send a memo to make sure the calls are accurate on Taylor or call it on everyone.

That extra 1/2 step is important and teams need to know where the line is.

People are tired of seeing the Chiefs win. That's what the initial outcry on social media was all about. Opposing fanbases have zero sympathy for the Chiefs on this, even though they know it's blatantly unfair.

This is such a bad look for the NFL and a bad look for opposing fan bases that are encouraging this.
