Chiefs Offsides reality - Page 18

Looking at the offsides on Toney and the “Let them play” mentality a few things stick out.

1. He was offsides and like it or not, that is inexcusable on his part. Toney should never line up offsides…….ever. That’s a Pee Wee league type of mistake. He didn’t just start playing football this year. Pre snap penalties are the worst because they are completely preventable. He should have never left it up to a ref to decide one way or another, especially with the quality of reffing league wide lately.

2. I get the “Let them play” mindset and not letting a questionable call impact a game. But it can’t be “Let them play” when convenient and when not calls should be made. Look at the SB when KC benefited from a penalty that essentially sealed the game. Had the refs swallowed the whistle like what was wanted today KC might well have lost the SB. We benefited from that penalty. But today we want to yell at the clouds because it was called. Both times the penalty was called, just this time it went against KC.

3. Even after the penalty they still had time to pick up the yards and score a TD and is systemic of how the offense has played for large portions of the year. This team has a championship caliber defense, but the offense is not what we all expect. That might mean an early exit this year. Simply put if the offense hasn’t figured it out by now I question whether they will.

It is what it is.

I think it’s pretty irresponsible for the refs to wear their uniforms to the airport instead of changing into street clothes. Also they shouldn’t throw flags at other passengers to try & get better seats. Thank heavens Chuck Norris & the Delta Force were there to keep the peace.

We all know that they can call flags on any given play. The reason they picked this timing says it all. Folks are tired of a midwestern team winning every year.

Maybe being the bad guys will help. The Chiefs are never the bad guys, which is why I think the league comes down especially hard on them for infractions. The tampering, the Hunt and Hill stories running wild without any real evidence and then drying up when the players went elsewhere.

We're the good guys in the white hats; we don't have to cheat to win. So when we get cheated, and I believe the Chiefs have the right to believe it, sometimes the good guys have to act like bad guys to get noticed.

Like the nice kid that gets bullied and taken advantage of; one day, he turns and smacks the bully in the face.

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore! Or something like that...

The league intentionally made sure to call that penalty against the Chargers tonight to make the Chiefs call look like it's not such an anomaly. There's no way that the league didn't tell the refs to call it tonight.

If Toney is offsides (have yet to see where the ball was spotted before Creed grabbed it), the DE (I assume that was Von) is lined up in the neutral zone.

The NFL's reeruned riggers are reeruned. That's why the winter meetings might be funny to be a fly on the wall. I'd like a hi tech solution to this issue. Whether it be sensors with some line across the field or whatever. But the NFL needs to enforce the rules of the game.

But several of these photos -- not sure of this one -- has the player truly checking whether they are okay with the officials before the play. Supposedly, Toney didn't do that so he ran the risk of it being called.

I don't think we'll see it until the NFL figures another way to steer games towards outcomes that keep the money rolling in.
