He didnt even seal his man tonight to get any easy buckets, which usually he can do from time to time. All of our bigs suck but Mickelson is probably the best one. He plays with energy, blocks shots thr best, and isnt a complete black hole on offense.

Also, Diallo starting thr last game and then playing mo minutes in thr next one is silly. Stop jerking thr kid around. If you look at production BY MINUTE Diallo is thr best on the team. Cliff was too last year. Im to the point that i dont care if they have a low BB IQ, their pure talent warrants them being out there not only to develop but to help us get the W. They can do things you cant coach.

Thought KU played a very poor game today. Luckily we made our FTs in this one. Im not optimistic that we can beat Texas in Austin unless our coach swallows his pride and lets our shotblockers play
Cliff was WAY better than Diallo. Diallo literally doesn't understand what he's doing on either end of the floor in a game. He can't play within the offensive system, nor can he guard at all. I would love if that wasn't the case because I absolutely hate watching Lucas, but that's a pretty hard thing to get around.

Yeah, and the amusing part is that even beyond it happening every season, it couldn't have been scripted better this year..... a couple of high flying games, including an epic 3 OT win, followed by 3 teams that intentionally slow down the game... a loss on the road, followed by getting back on track at home. Who could have guessed?!?!

Oh, let me look into my crystal ball... they start playing better in the next month with @ISU, UK, KSU, WVU, @OU, OSU, and @Baylor while possibly not bringing enough or any energy @KSU or @TCU.

I'll try to act surprised though.

I don't disagree with you. He just has that much more talent than guys like Lucas that he still has to play. Like I said, go look at his production PER MINUTE.

I wouldn't be so pissed about Diallo if it meant he played Hunter 15 minutes a game. It is getting ridiculous. Bill Self doesn't seem to value certain things, like blocked shots, 3 point shooting, and steals among other things. Sometimes over values defensive positioning by players who even if they are in the right spots within the offensive and on the defensive side of the ball don't do anything anyway.

I'm not happy at all. I'm very disappointed with the way KU played against Texas, and the personnel moves. I'm very discouraged at this point. Especially with Mason regressing, and Mickelson/Diallo not progressing.

Monday night will be interesting. If KU of two weeks ago shows up we kill ISU. If the team of recent shows up it'll be easy for ISU.

I bet if someone were to calculate Diallo's WAR, we would find that it is not very good at all. Historically, Bill Self has had zero issues playing freshmen when they contribute to wins. This Phog narrative about Bill Self preferring old players against better judgement is pretty silly, IMO.

Bill Self loves winning more than he loves playing upperclassmen. I guarantee you. He is doing whatever it takes to win.

Per Rustin Dodd... Bill Self had a meeting with Mason, Graham, Selden and Ellis before practice Friday. He asked their thoughts on what was best for the team.

Self didn't disclose what was said in the meeting. But obviously one day later, Landen Lucas started and Traylor played 15 minutes.

This can't be good. I'm sure Diallo, Mickelson, Svi can read between the lines about what was said about them. Would have liked for coach to keep that under wraps.

I would argue the exact opposite. That Diallo would have a higher WAR, at least per minute than guys like Traylor and Lucas.

Kind of like how the Royals chose to play Alex Rios all the time, when Orlando and Dyson were better, and WAR reflected that.

@Sacc for trying to push off Maryland O as technically better than KU. It's all the same. Look for an opportunity to penetrate and then dish.
