Geno Smith A "No Show" At Sanchez Led Jets West Camp
Thought ya'll might be interested in this.
Read into this what you want. Not really sure if Smith should be attending since they are probably competing for the same spot. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/stor...jets-west-camp "New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith will not attend Mark Sanchez's annual "Jets West" camp, a league source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Instead of attending Sanchez's chemistry-building camp for the Jets' offensive players, Smith is working out in Florida, according to the New York Daily News. Multiple media reports said Smith was not in attendance at Jets West on Thursday, the first official practice in Southern California. We haven't talked about it, but from my understanding it's something that's done annually and all the guys go out there and it's been a great experience," Smith previously had said." |

Geno is an unproven rookie in New York City, and by most accounts not making the best of impressions... is that atleast agreeable?
Axl Smiff has atleast led a winning team down the field... is that atleast agreeable? Ah yes, agreed by all reasonable minds... So why not allow Axl 4-5 games before we write him off as not even worthy of being Geno "unproven rookie" Smiffs understudy? I get it, Axl doesnt have that one, singular talent that pops your eyes out, i remain less than awed by his signing... but he has atleast proven he can WIN in the NFL, thats more than Geno has proven no doubt. All i'm saying is ATLEAST give the guy a chance to earn his stripes here before chanting his death song, **** being a homer, how about just being a pragmatist, is that too much to ask? |

Not good enough. Not in today's league. There is a WELL-ESTABLISHED TEMPLATE for having a franchise that consistently competes for Championships, and we ignore it every time we are given a chance to embrace it. And we do so in the name of expediency: "OH NOES! LIL' CHIEFY IS UPSET THAT WE AREN'T WINNING AT HOME AND AT LEAST SPLITTING ONE WITH THE RAIDERS, DONKEY'S AND CHARGERS"! **** THIS DIVISION. Let me repeat that: **** WINNING THIS DIVISION. Do you think I give two ****s about being King of Shit Mountain????? If we never won this division again and went to the Super Bowl every other year, I CAN ****ING LIVE WITH THAT. So here we are again. Same goddamned story, different pile of shit writing the script. Yay. I understand your point, but the benefit of the doubt has LONG since sailed.

Football season can't start soon enough, once Alex shows what we all know he's capable of, Mac-Douche will be MIA.

It's that the Chiefs 'good year' has a pretty hard cap and would require Alex Smith ELEVATING his game at age 30, after MANY seasons in the league to be much more. 10-6 doesn't really qualify as a good year around here. 8-8 sure as hell doesn't, and neither does 9-7. A 'good year' would be one in which the Chiefs actually have a chance at going deep in the playoffs and doing something that can be built upon. It's that Alex Smith is somewhere around the top of the second division/half of starting QBs in the NFL. And that's not good enough to go where we all want the Chiefs to go... which is pretty sad considering how much they gave up for him.

That is an outlook that I disagree with. I would even respectfully disagree with it, but people come off as such dicks, that respect just isn't gonna be given to them. All I can speak of as a fan was my experience as a SF fan when we recently had some dark times. I would sit and watch every game.. more than once.. and still find excitement and hope while knowing (after evidence builds) that they would likely fail. I would appreciate every win and mourn every loss week to week. So when certain fans tell me that they would prefer to go 0-16 in the effort to somehow some way get this imaginary QBOTF? Yeah.. my thought on that is hell no. If you are a passionate fan like me? Losing really makes for a depressingly long 4 months. So here, I give you 2 scenarios... the first of which is slightly below what I truly expect. 1) The Chiefs finish the season 8-8. They show the fans and league that they are not the bottom-dwellers of the league, and are tough to beat in every game. They give the fans some real excitement and hope... despite not always coming out on top. Do most other teams and fans respect their opponent for an 8-8 record and giving them a tough battle? I'd say yes. Do they respect a 2-14 team that gives up and lays down on blowout losses and an inept passing game? I'd say no. Does going 8-8 and picking in the middle 1st rd eliminate that team's chance of selecting a good QB to develop into a QBOTF? I'd say no... even with a missing 2nd/3rd rounder. There are always options to move up. bottom line: Chiefs earned some respect back at 8-8. Have a current vet QB that (very likely) wouldn't be the the main reason for the close losses.. but he might not be that special guy beyond reproach. So in the 2014 draft.. the Chiefs draft an early rd QB to compete and develop.. to perhaps push the team further into a playoff shot. *mind you, I think if KC misses the playoffs this season, it would be due to the team not gelling quickly enough.. and overall just not being as solid as many think. I am expecting 9 wins this season.. and more the next season. 2) In this scenario, KC didn't trade for Alex. They traded a 4th for Matt Moore and selected Geno Smith at 1.1. KC then wins 4 games... 4-12 record. This is honestly what I'd expect in this scenario. So to cut it short.. you are telling me that you'd rather lose twice as many games... draft a QB in 1.1.. having no idea of how he will develop and perform.. and further push the fans and team players into wanting out. Just on the chance that Geno turns out to be good someday down the road. A veteran QB that's been top 10 in QB passer rating the last 2 years... this guy, you give zero chance to be the guy that helps lead you to the SB. The same guy that got his team a fumble away in 2011.. and had a 6-2 record the next year.. this guy gets zero chance to be your "Rich Gannon"... even though he's been putting up relatively similar numbers, though slightly less, due to Harbaugh's system. Yet you give far more belief to some rookie being better.. on the heels of the team winning 4 games and losing more faith? Hey, I guess I see what you want. Just can not agree with it. More to the point though... your GM and HC wanted to go another route. So as fans.. you have a choice to make. You can take the pouting, disgruntled approach... or you can shrug it off.. and support the decisions made.. just be excited, optimistic, and pull for the team. It's really just misdirected anger. You are pissed off at the choices of your team's decision-makers... and since you can't take that anger out on them? You try and take it out on the forum people that are not sharing your outrage. It isn't really working though. As the other forum people, we are pretty immune to the insults. It just comes off as children throwing a tantrum. Now all of this may not apply to you, Duncan.. so don;t take it all personally. And no, it also won't phase me at all if this post is entirely ignored. I'm typing away while I sip my coffee. I find it relaxing.. so either way, I am getting what I want. |
