Austin Blythe - Good signing and contract very, very team friendly.

Quote:
Three time Iowa State Wrestling Champion at 285 (Williamsburg) - 2009, 2010, and 2011 with record of - 188 - 11, 50 - 1 as Senior
https://www.iahsaa.org/wp-content/up...21-12.3.20.pdf
“Everything in wrestling translates to football,” Blythe told USA TODAY’s Jori Epstein ahead of Super Bowl LIII. “Hand placement, leverage, keeping your elbows in, bending at the knees not the hips. All that stuff translates directly to offensive-line play.”

Quote:
Sure, Blythe was a bit undersized, but he was highly decorated for the Iowa Hawkeyes during his tenure. He started 49 of 50 games played during his career and was made a permanent team captain. In his senior year, he was one of three finalists for the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the top center in college football. Sometimes those are the types of intangibles that make you a solid NFL player regardless of your draft status.

Uh oh. Wait till Staylor finishes his 16 pack of Dew. You're in for it now!

Being it’s only a 1 year deal, losing him to next years free agency also provides the possibility of another comp pick the following draft, as well.
The Chiefs have no chance to get a comp pick outside of maybe a 7th after signing Thuney so all of this is irrelevant and has little to do with their decision.

Blythe was obviously signed to play center right away, but he may end up at RG at one point this season.
Your point is still valid, but in 2020 NFL expanded roster rules for 8 offensive linemen -

Quote:
New CBA rule: Starting this season, game-day active rosters, which used to be limited to 46 players per team, can include up to 48 players, provided that at least eight of those 48 are offensive linemen. (If not, the game-day roster size is limited to 47 players.)

Yea because Reiter isn’t close with Pat and wouldn’t give them a chance to match any offer.

They clearly didn’t want Reiter back that bad. It’s obvious. Put your thinking cap on.

All of this started because you are arguing against the blatantly obvious fact that Reiter’s run blocking was an issue. Do you really think his run blocking wasn’t an issue? Are you that ****ing stupid?

He allowed 0 sacks in 2 years on a passing team and they made a half ass effort to bring him back and in the end let him walk. That tells you everything you need to know about how they view his weakness. If that’s not enough, they signed a guy that’s a much better run blocker. Put your thinking cap on.

yeah, I’m still evidently suffering from after effects of anesthesia yesterday.

Blythe was on a 1 year contract for 3.9m last year with the Rams...so he actually takes away from our comp pick formula.

That's why you bring in a center that can also play RG if needed.

They're not going to start with LDT and Long on the bench just because they might get injured.

Andy is about the best 5 guys. Long or LDT is going to start at RG and stay there unless they get hurt, which is absolutely a possibility. Of course, the chances of both of them getting hurt at the same time, when they likely won't be on the field at the same time, is pretty low.

So they offered a contract to someone they "clearly didn't want back". Makes sense.

Reading comprehension.

I love how you ignore the overall point as well. Stop dancing around the fact that this all started because you tried to argue against my point about Reiter’s run blocking being an issue.

This all started cause you replied to me about the possibility of having both Reiter and Blythe. I never even talked about Reiters run blocking. Btw, they can still have Blythe's good run blocking with Reiter on the team

That’s exactly why they chose Blythe after deciding to move on from Reiter.

Holy shit you used to just be a contrarian, but you’re turning into one of the biggest morons on the ****ing board.

I’m talking about this argument that we are currently having about the Chiefs and how they view and how badly they wanted to re-sign Reiter.

The point isn’t about having Blythe’s good run blocking on the team AND Reiter. They signed Blythe to replace Reiter. They replaced Reiter with a better run blocker which I’m saying proves my point about it being an issue. You’re talking irrelevant nonsense and avoiding the point all together.

You’re seriously entering JakeF levels of stupidity here.

The only way Reiter will be back is if he takes a deal like Blythe just took.

Even then, I think both sides have moved on with this signing.

They gave him a contract offer, probably like the one Blythe signed, and said take it or leave it. I'm sure he was insulted.

It's pretty amusing how you respond to a post and then try to decide what the overall point is . Keep doing you Stay.

You do agree that it would have been real awkward if Reiter signed that contract that they offered. Can you imagine?!?!
