Let's talk about the Bengals [and Hamburger Helper]

This one is huge as far as the #1 seed goes.

Let's talk about it.

During this win streak, the Chiefs have outscored opponents 233-103. That works out to 29.25-12.875 as an average score.
This. But it also ignores that the Chiefs have been very good in that stat since about week 8 when their defense had a massive turnaround.

If they are firing on all cylinders, they can be supremely dangerous but if not they can be a cakewalk. You don't want to hit that chance they play well.
Yeah, they're a hard team to hate and have a long-suffering fanbase with many who have loyally watched them through defeats and division rivals reaching the top of the mountain in that time (can you imagine if Atwater blew up Gannon's knee after he threw a touchdown to go up 7-0 before Grbac blew it against Elway -- and then the Broncos winning the SB after? Yeesh). Even they're forum is funny, there's a thread where people are like "I feel more hopeful with Burrow than I ever did with Dalton (rightfully) and I think I'm as hopeful as I was with Boomer" and replies are like "woah, settle down there."

Definitely would prefer to watch the Bengans out of anyone else in the AFC if we went down. Imagine a Titans-Patriots rematch in the AFCCG.

I mean, it makes sense. With the products their professional sports teams have put out since the 90's I'd probably have taken up Arena League fandom right now from sheer desperation. I wasn't even alive the last time the Bengals won a playoff game.

All this board smack is reminding me of when Hog Farmer would go on opposing boards but instead of smack talk would host Q&A's on the ins and outs of artificial insemination and just bewilder opposing fanbases (if I remember right those were in the Pioli years where we didn't have a lot to smack talk about anyway).

Bengals have a very capable offense but an average at best defense. That's that's not enough to win this one.

Their offense is like a great looking house with a sinking foundation.

Looks great, but not very stable.

Their pass protection is complete trash. Good defenses will make them pay.

CIN has an offense, no question. They can run the ball effectively and with Burrow they can pass. They're in the top-15 total offense/game, top-10 passing yds/game, bottom third rushing/game, and top-10 again in scoring/game.

But they're pretty inconsistent, and that's not just for the season, but through their last 5 games as well. And they have issues offensively that have carried from week 1 to the present.

For instance, while CIN ranks in the top-12 in pts/gm, yds/gm, pts/play, yds/play, they somehow rank just 17th in 3rd down conversion% (39.89%). For comparison, KC ranks 1st with 51.67% conversion rate.

On the other side of the ball, CIN's D ranks 18th in 3rd down conversion% (40.40%), or well below average, with doesn't bode well for their defense come Sunday.

And it gets worse. The Bengals allow opposing QBs to complete passes at an astonishing rate (66.49%) in 2021, good for 22nd in the league. Go back and look at that list someone posted about the QBs CIN has faced in 2021. Other than Rodgers and Herbert it's not a distinguished list. Cousins (351yds, 2TDs), Rothelisberger (318, 1TDs), Mike White (405, 3TDs), Herbert (317, 3TDs), Garrapolo (296, 2TDs).

If those guys can throw for 300+ yds and multiple TDs on that defense, what could Mahomes do?

There's more, like the fact that they turn the ball over at a higher-than-average rate and are below-average generating turnovers on defense.

In simple form,

It's like this: CIN's offense is better than average, and their defense is decent at stopping the run, but below average stopping any passing attack, give away 3rd down conversions like they were candy, really bad at stopping opposing teams in the RZ, they turn the ball over too much, don't generate turnovers, and they're about to face one of the most efficient passing attacks in the league.

Any given Sunday, plus COVID BS, and all that, but by the numbers, good luck. They're going to need a healthy dose of luck to beat this Chiefs team the way KC is playing right now.

My personal favorite is when they call us arrogant. I guess we are supposed to defer to their greatness because because they blew out a depleted Ravens team.

KC has lost 10 games in three years COMBINED. KC has hosted three straight AFCCGs which no team in AFC history can say. They have been to back to back SBs and were an offsides from three straight SBs. KC was an injured OLine and questionable calls from probably being back to back champs. KC is currently the #1 seed and the only AFC team to have currently clinched a spot.

Cincinnati has the tougher schedule because they have KC on their schedule. The fact that some of their fans think they are going to beat/destroy KC is the height of arrogance they accuse KC fans of. They are a good young team and I like how their roster is built, especially at the QB position, but respect is earned and they haven't done anything yet to justify that.

We should send one of our best over there. Someone with dignity, class…a true positive role model of what it means to be a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Someone who is understanding of our differences with other fan bases. Someone who exemplifies good sportsmanship and would never say something that might be offensive or derogatory.

I nominate carcosa or Jewish Rabbi to be our ambassador.

To be fair though, we were in their shoes prior to 2018.

We celebrated beating the Patriots in September like we had just won the Super Bowl, then would say Patriots fans were arrogant assholes because they brushed it off.

We would read PatriotsPlanet and call them all smug entitled assholes because they were very confident, and now we read how we're the arrogant assholes.

I was looking for a post I made to diqlix last year, but couldn't find it.... it's the circle of life though, one we hadn't experienced in decades as Chiefs fans.
