Peacock exclusive playoff game is stupid

Bad move by the league. Quit being greedy and keeping your customers from watching your product.

Surely they wont put Mahomes in that game but who knows.

When I was a teen, cable came to my hometown. Before then, it was just antennas. My parents got the basic set of channels, but once every couple of months or so the cable company would do a sampler and open up all of the channels for viewing. My parents didn't know that there were a couple of soft-core porn channels that came on late at night after they went to bed, and I never told them. We only had one TV, which was in the living room, and it had no remote. I would turn the sound down really low and sit near the TV, and I always had an ear attuned to the sound of their bedroom door opening. If that door opened, I could change the channel to some late-night talk show in 0.05 seconds.

This playoff game has more than paid for itself in free advertising. All of the people whining on social media just makes it a better investment. The number of people who are willing to pay $6 to watch a game they would have to pay hundreds of dollars to see in person far outnumbers those who won't pay the $6.
If they have good enough content then offer the game up for free without being obligated to sign up for something. Lots of people will be willing to pay $6. But the NFL is also going to lose a looottttt of people who would've watched the game if it were offered for free. From fans of other teams to the swifty crowd theyre courting who don't care enough about the sport. And those lost eyeballs are potential future fans, future buyers or merch and more immediately eyeballs for nfl sponsors who pay out the ass to get their product in front of a large audience. NBC makes bank and therefore the NFL, but that doesn't mean it's a great move for the NFL

I still have the email that I no longer received peacock premium with my xfinity internet.

They had to pay for the Big 10 package somehow.

It was our solution to cord cutting. Doesn’t work for everyone since no live sports channels but has all the other cable channels one would expect. Only $20 per month and still gives you access to individual channel apps (Discovery, Food, etc) should you prefer that route.

Guess I'll just listen in on the 105.7 live stream as usual.

I have no desire to pay for streaming and honestly, don't see what I'm missing.

The future will be 17 Chiefs games on 17 different streaming platforms, all charging their own pricing and requiring an annual subscription.

Week 1 will be on CBS for $17 per month (minimum three-month subscription that auto-renews), but they might switch to another game at halftime.
Week 2 will be on ESPN for $143, which includes a required annual subscription to men's horseshoe tossing.
Week 3 will be on the Hallmark Channel, for $11.95, with two romance novelists who don't watch football as the announcing team. It'll also include 11 home shopping channels in a bundle at $9.99 per year each.
Week 4 will be on Public Television for $56, or for $75 they'll include an official Week 4 tote bag.

...

Week 17 will be on Chattanooga Channel 36, the local ABC affiliate for $29, but is only available within a 40-mile radius of Chattanooga.

And of course, the broadcast networks will be different for every team, because the NFL can make more money by auctioning off game coverage individually. So just because you buy the annual subscription to CNN27 to watch the Chiefs game in Week 11, you're going to need 15 other subscriptions to watch the other 15 games.

And then at some point those networks will come back asking why the actual viewership was 10,000 people instead of 14 million people, and then it'll be too late because all of the kids have grown up watching soccer or something since football is a hassle to view.
