They played him on the kickoff cover team starting from game 1 against AZ. I don't think they monitored his snaps as much as some people seem to think.

From a pure roster construction standpoint, Meck is 100% right - while having another multi-purpose interior lineman who can collapse the pocket AND stuff the run would be really nice, it's no sort of need. We could send Danny Shelton out there and still get better interior pressure than 80% of the league.
Oh for sure. I just don't think plugging Shelton next to JOnes is gonna do much for the double teams against Chris. They're smart so they move him around and the Omenihu thing is really big.

I'd still like to add another rusher somewhere, which I'm sure they will, but if you could get a true 3 down guy in there next to Jones...you could really do some shit.

One of the reasons the Eagles were so successful was bc their offense wasn’t pass first. It was a very healthy dose of running from multiple players.

They took advantage of teams having smaller LB’s, cover 2 and just killed them bc they were built to defend the pass. Ray Jr’s defense is built upon the run game too.

I think you’re gonna see teams try to copy that formula. Sure looks like Sean Payton is trying to in Denver

And if Chris Jones were to get injured? Our DLine would absolutely implode. You're not just losing a multiplier in skill, you're losing ALL of the skill at DT as it stands. Imagine starting Nnadi and Wharton for any significant chunk of the season as your primary DTs. That's far worse than imagining starting 2 of the 3 WRs we have slated to take the reigns this year IMO.

Skyy is actually a really hard cover with his ability to run routes and does have outstanding hands. I'm making the assumption that his biggest problem last year was not learning the playbook fast enough/well enough to be a major contributor. I think his skills project well to a slot possession type. Toney's athleticism plays more into the move/gadget role. I rightly don't care who emerges as the better player and I know Reid will put them in the best roles to succeed.

I do agree adding a vet of some type is prudent before the draft. I really like Callaway because of how good he looked when he actually got significant PT in 2021 but it's probably wishful thinking by me to think Veach would add him. I picked him because of his route running and ability to win in contested situations. I think he'd be a nice hedging of your bets if the Moore/Toney pair doesn't fill JuJu's role adequately or one gets hurt. I feel like going for broke with a D-Hop or otherwise, is just simply not giving your young guys a chance. It's that problem of going all-in at the potential cost in the future because you didn't grow your own talent. I'd be more inclined to continue to add speed via the draft.

I don't much want anything to do with Chark. Taking a chance on him a couple of years ago would have been a thing for me. Now, just not interested as he can't stay healthy for more than 2/3 of the season.

At the end of the day you might have to pick your poison on where to best add the highest-end talent is and right now I think my vote is firmly in the trenches.
Remember that I, the poster child 'Skyy Hater', have been saying for months now that I'd absolutely let JuJu walk and replace him with Moore because yes, that's definitely the role Moore is best suited for.

And I think he can give us the 900 odd yards off the 110 targets w/ a 7 yard depth of target that JJSS did. If he's anything at all in the NFL, the role JJSS played last year is going to be his absolute best chance to prove it. He's a possession receiver. Maybe he's not a pure slot guy, but he's not a burner and he's not a downfield guy. He's an underneath/possession guy who's going to have to use quickness to get open rather than size to wall off as JJSS did. But he can/should operate in the same areas.

As for Callaway - I think the odds are better than you do. Callaway is only 24, IIRC. That's exactly the sort of toolsy young veteran that Veach likes to target. He's kinda been my under the radar target for awhile but I didn't feel like the Chiefs would pursue him unless/until the door closed on Hardman.

I really could see traction developing there fairly quickly.

Some guys are just irreplaceable guys. If Kelce or Mahomes goes down, the guys we draft/sign this year to stick behind them don't matter a hell of a lot. Jones is in that tier.

I just don't practice ****ed when I'm thinking through these sorts of things.

He's a great reclamation candidate, IMO.

Yeah, I'd certainly be interested.

I had to check because I thought he was older but he's only 28. I'd totally bring him in on a Juju type deal.

The Eagles also had a fantastic group of weapons to keep teams honest, the best OL in the league, and a QB that could run the ball.

I don't think their situation is easily duplicated by any means.

Is that a top 10 WR group? No but I think it could give you what we got last year and that's fine with me.

You're definitely thinking about this entirely wrong. It's not about replacing Chris Jones' skill set if he goes down. It's about mitigating the effect. Do you want an absolute dumpster fire or do you want a chance at treading water?

Right now, it's a dumpster fire.
