How in the world does someone see Ricker's body of work and decide that they want to pay him to do the same for their team?

So Kyler Murray's family was evidently smitten with OU during their recruitment and I believe that Heupel would've been instrumental in that recruiting process.
Think that would even get us in the door with Murray? Seems like an incredible long shot but it doesn't hurt to get an audience with the guy. Lock might develop into a nice player some day, but Murray could be transformative in the same way that Daniel was.

I also wouldn't be surprised if strength of the baseball team plays a pretty large factor in which school he attends. This whole A&M shakeup is bizarre. Yesterday, I half expected Sumlin to be fired by the end of the day. Now it's gone silent and everything seems "normal." Maybe it's just the calm before the storm, though.

That sucks. Ivey was a big part of our success, IMO.

He was highly involved in the CS1950 fiasco.

There were some rumblings that he was fomenting some of the unrest prior to the 'strike'. I never heard anything firsthand but it is believed that he may have encouraged some of the players to involve themselves in the Butler situation (which obviously then spiraled out of control). I don't doubt that he played a pretty substantial role in it, to be honest. He was very much involved with the players and could easily have been one of the primary sounding boards for black players. That said, the dude was !@#$ing good at what he did and he'll be a big loss.

He was also very good at his job. Tough guy to replace.

Just saw on twitter (don't ask me to find it) that DeMonte Cross will be the DC.
Understanding he's coming home, it's a weird mix, Odom, a 3-4 guy, and Cross a 4-2 guy (as a TCU coach). Apparently a great recruiter in houston, though. So that's a win. And if he brings some of TCU's coverage concepts, I think it's a huge win. Maybe the 3-4 looks more like a 3-3, though? |
