Ruger Mark IV Tactical 22 Pistol

I looked for the conceal carry thread, not that is works for the Ruger.

Is this a good gun? Everything I have researched is yes.

But why own a 22 LR pistol? No stopping power? Not CC. Just for fun plunking? Cheap ammo? Home defense? Fun factor?

I can pick it up for $500. Tad steep for a plunking pistol.

Thoughts?

My Ruger MKII Government Target Model is, by far, my favorite pistol. Even with the difficult reassembly, I still love it.

The MKIV Target is on my short list for suppressor-compatible .22 pistols (others being the Taurus TX-22 Competition, FN 502, and Browning Buckmark Plus Camper UFX).

Just gotta wait for the ATF to get off their ass. It's been 13 months.

My Ruger MK-II is EASILY my favorite gun to shoot.

I’ve literally driven nails with it just to prove it could do it. It is a freakishly accurate gun. Easy as hell to shoot, inexpensive and again it just does not miss.

Visually the Mk-IV looks identical to my II with some fancy looking window dressing but virtually identical mechanisms. I’d be stunned if it’s not a great shooting gun.

Yea - you should buy it.

Probably what I have it it’s the target model. 7 inch bull barrel with the nickel finish.

Get a hogue grip for it and it’s just the most comfortable gun in the world.

I opened this thread hoping you were selling one cheap. What a gyp
Oops.

I didn't know it was such a desirable pistol.

Yes, got off the phone with the seller. He is dropping it off tomorrow at the office. $500 cash.

Read about it being a "suppressor" pistol. Is that legal and why would you want a suppressor unless, like Rainman, a possible assassin? Home defense?

Only slight complaint I had was the trigger pull being pretty heavy out of the box, especially for a 22. My CZ 75 9mm had a lighter trigger pull.

Jesus ****ing Christ just went to check yours out on Rugers website out of curiosity and the MSRP on mine has jumped over $200 since I got it. Kind of sucks if that's the new norm. Bought it during the pandemic.

Love my mkIII 22/45 Lite. It's my go to for rabbits in the winter. I added a fiber optic front sight and the halo charging ring from below website. The charging ring is great for when wearing winter gloves.

I have a Browning Buckmark I like better but that Ruger is fine pistol.

What is really fun for me is a Ruger Single Six revolver.

I have tinnitus in my left ear from a Ruger Mark II. Even though it’s a .22, it has a really sharp crack. I was young and stupid and I’d shot .22LR rifles and while loud, they didn’t really affect my hearing. Not the Ruger Mark II, though. Happened >30 years ago and I have tinnitus and a hearing loss around 25% in my left ear because of it.

I love .22 and I think my next AR build is going to be a Bear Creek Ammo .22WMR with a threaded barrel. Throw a suppressor on it and it will be quiet enough the neighbors won’t care.

Anyway, get the gun. You’ll enjoy it. Just use protection. Hearing protection, that is.

What kind of CZ? I got mine in Prague years ago. Is yours the newer "B" model? Love the gun. Did some research and it is one of the better 9mm.

Owning a suppressor is legal, but it requires an ATF background check and a $200 tax stamp.

I can't speak for everybody, but my primary reason for owning a suppressor is the hearing protection. Secondary reason is my ability to use it on the job to euthanize sick/injured wildlife, especially in residential/sensitive areas.

ok, I don't follow guns that much. SP01 seems quite nice. They call it a full sized gun. From the pictures, mine is larger. More similar to a Beretta 92. CZ has a nice history, especially the CZ 75.
