I listened to Russert on the Today Show Friday morning (I think it was Friday), he said the Washington Press Corps dinner was usually a place where the POTUS poked fun at himself and his staff.

Russert also said that a high ranking Dem told Russert virtually the same jokes used as the ones the POTUS used.

Apparently it's tradition. Was it in bad taste? Yes. Was it meant to hurt anybody? No.

If you want to bash bush....Fine. I've never seen him be anything other than respectful of the soldiers serving, or the Fallen. A fargin History teacher, of all things should know that Dead soldiers are no joking matter.
