I cheated and looked up who it is.

Very solid player, but not HOF worthy given the juiced up era he played in. Doesn't really have any qualitative aspects that will help his cause (multiple WS rings, good with media, funny, NY Yankee, etc).

Okay, I know who it is.

Still no.

He played a hitters position. As a hitter, he had only 1 or 2 seasons where he was among the most feared in the league. He was only a 2x All-Star which means he was never even truly elite among his peers.

If he gets in, it would be a watered down Eddie Murray vote. Eddie Murray was a watered down vote in his own right (I don't think he belongs, personally).

His kind of production from a 3b or even a plus corner OFer (like a Matt Holliday type) might have gotten the nod from me (stress might), but at his position and given his peer group, I'd say no way.
