Domino's pizza revisited and review

because i'm bored


lemme first say that i haven't had Domino's pizza in a long time because it pretty much sucked imo. Ketchup on cardboard etc. Then i saw a commercial for Domino's pizza that actually talks about listening to their customers and even mentioned the Ketchup reference so i was surprised and decided to try it again.

i ordered online ... the site wasn't great but it was decent. It was alot like the Pizza Hut site where they have coupons and allow you to customize your pizza etc. Not bad.

one thing i noticed if you completely customize your pizza is makes the price pretty expensive but if you modify an existing pizza you can get about the same pizza for a few bucks less ... kinda a glitch i think.

so i decided to go with the '2 medium pizzas w/2 toppings for $5.99 each' deal.

my first pizza i decide to go away from my norm because they said their hand-tossed pizza had a new butter/garlic crust.

1. hand-tossed crust. 2-toppings were cheese and chicken.

i changed the american cheese to provolone and also change the tradition red meat sauce to white sauce ... for no extra charge btw.

my 2nd pizza was much more my norm

2. deep dished pizza(switching to deep dish added $1) with Italian sausage

i added extra sauce(no extra charge) and added hamburger(added $1) and sliced spicy sausage(added $1)

2nd pizza went from 5.99 to 8.99 with the changes.

order was easy and they even had a little order status update going. i don't know if it was real time or just a timing bullshit graphic program
but it keeps you occupied.

delivery was on time (20 minutes) and the order was filled correctly.


1st pizza - was decent, it was a weird taste because the white sauce was pretty much a traditional Italian Alfredo sauce. Along with the butter garlic crust basically made the pizza end up being Chicken Alfredo on garlic toast. But it wasn't bad.

2nd pizza - was pretty dam good. the extra sauce made it spicy and the italian sausage was quite good. i was surprised



overall result - it's not restaurant level pizza but it's just a good as Pizza Hut or Godfather's. Competition is good so it's nice to have Domino's back in the running to keep the other fast food pizza places in line.

I don't have any problems with Dominos or Papa John's. It's Pizza Hut that has me running to the bathroom. Their crust is to ****ing greasy.

They have a pizza place here in Omaha that serves the best ****ing pizza I've ever had in my life...

It's called Sgt. Peffers' and you order the 5 cheese white with chicken.
They do not **** around. If you're ever in town, call them and go get a medium. You will the whole thing.
Trust me.


Oh, and I always liked Domino's the way it was for some reason. My favorite chain is Papa Johns though. Garlic butter FTW.

When I was a kid I was the dough master for Pizza Hut. I'd go in every morning to prepare and proof the dough. If you guys had ANY idea how much oil goes into 1 large pan pizza, you'd never eat it again. Employees called them out as "1 large widow maker with pep, saus, and extra cheese." Seriously.

In a college town where there are about 10,000 pizza places, Domino's is about last on my list. I've had their new stuff. It's better, but better than complete n total shit is still shit.

Unless things have changed since I worked there 10 years ago Pizza Hut restaurants no longer make their dough. They get it all frozen. It thaws out in the pan full of oil and/or vegetable spray.

When I first started there I made the dough on the weekends. After the switch to frozen you could tell a huge taste difference.

Heh, that's often our "Friday night between paychecks" dinner.

I had a Pizza Hut pizza the other night, only because we got a good e-mail coupon for it, and it was the best PH pie I've ever had. I was shocked (we all were).

I've been impressed with the Domino's commercials. I expect a company to advertise that they are "now better!" or "new and improved," not that they admit they've been sucking lately (and specify why). After Laz's review, I'll have to try them again, too.

I had to prep the dough when I was a delivery driver at Pizza Hut in college.

Disgusting. They have giant tubs of oil with a pump handle, like bathroom hand soap. 4 or 5 squirts into each pan, then the dough, then cover it with a spray-on grease. After the dough had risen a bit, you could press it lightly with your finger and watch the oil bubble up from underneath. I haven’t eaten pizza hut since then.

Same job at Little Ceaser's. Equally disgusting, esepcially their Pan! Pan! pizzas (the square deep dish). The deep dish pans were pretty much perpetually greasy and wet. After cleaning, they'd stack them all up while they were still wet. Usually when you went to get a stack to start putting the dough into the pans, half the pans had mold growing in them. Little Ceaser's was ****ing disgusting.
