X and O Guys - How Did Denver Just Shut down the Chiefs Blitz?

All with football acumen please help me understand. Why didn't the Chiefs Defense touch 5 head, neck bone at least once or twice?

We were running press man coverage while sending four pass rushers most of the game. That means we have one less guy blitzing the QB than they have blocking for him (sometimes two when the back stays in for pass protection). So from the start we're at a disadvantage in that department.

Now you take into account the Broncos offensive gameplan: short, crossing and pick routes designed to free up their receivers quickly in order for Manning to get the ball out quickly. Peyton had the ball out of his hands within 2.5 seconds on a majority of his throws.

You know how hard it is to travel 5 yards and tackle a guy with a 300 pound man in your way in 2.5 seconds?

I agree. I saw it myself.

That was a huge push off.

Don't really agree with how quickly Manning was getting rid of the ball. They would of just burned us for more yards per play.

All in all I don't think it was a very well officiated game, but neither team got a clear benefit in shitty calls.

I thought the game was officiated fairly.

There was some ticky tack bullshit and there were some blatant non calls. Mostly on holding and pass interference.

Simple.

Sutton played man all night and Manning can read it all day. Thus the ball comes out quick at just above 2 seconds per snap

Yes. Looked like he was just past the 5 yard limit, it was close though.

It ended up evening out. I don't agree with a lot of the calls but I'd have to call it a push.
