I've found that the 8 to 32-bit sidescrollers are typically still pretty fun. Basic AF, but fun. I could get down on some Mario Bros, Donkey King Country and Contra to this day.
When you start getting to the 3-D consoles, it's hit or miss. Those polygons didn't age well and the controls on a lot of those platformers was just garbage (now I'm looking at you, Tomb Raider for PS1). |

I beat that game so many times using the 30 life code that eventually I didn't need to use it. Never did achieve a flawless run. Dying only once was the best I could do. Still, I think that was pretty good. |

out of these 2, I preferred genesis. all the games came in plastic cases that you didnt dare throw away. the SNES games came in carborard boxes that you would want to get trid of after a while.

The SNES had the better game library, but you got the Genesis so all your friends at school didn't think you were a pussy.
It's too bad that Squaresoft didn't put out Super Mario RPG until the SNES was a relic, because it was an incredibly impressive game for the hardware. |

Owned a Genesis and SNES... loved those systems. SNES had alot of good games but I was partial to Genesis cause it seemed like you could play more mature games like MK w/ blood or road rash. EA kicked ass back then too. Loved Final Fantasy 2&3 on SNES and Phantasy Star 2,3 and 4 on Genesis. Great memories...
Actually playing final fantasy 3 currently on my old PS3 since it could play ps1 discs. Never played Turbo Grafx it seemed to flame out quick. |

yep. once you figured out the timing on the routes, it got a little too easy though.
