Late night bullshit: Credit where it's due for this Chiefs team.

I get all the concerns Chiefs fans have with this team right now, especially considering the PTSD we all have from the AFCCG. The run defense, the corners, the run game, I get it all. I am skeptical this team has what it takes to stop the Pats.

But look at the first six weeks of this season. Hell, the first seven.

@JAX, albeit against Minshew
@OAK, when we were their Super Bowl
BAL, the 3rd best team in the AFC
@DET, a pretty damn good team who played their best

Now we're about to host a fairly stout Indianapolis team, followed by a nightmare matchup against Deshaun Watson and the Texans. Then it's a short week to play in Denver, though obviously we should spank that team.

So I'm not interested in the scarecrows the Pats have played at QB so far; if the Chiefs emerge from this opening stretch at 7-0, then they are the favorite. This is the worst stretch we'll see on this schedule until December, and the Chiefs have so far gone 4-0 with three of those tough games on the road.

Only the Detroit game was even close.

We all know this team for real. But going 6-0 (and almost certainly 7-0) makes this team the AFC favorite, whether we beat out New England's cake schedule for the 1 seed or not.

It's damn hard to win in this league. It's incredibly hard to win as much as we have lately. We have a good team with a bunch good guys on it. People can bitch about the defense, and if we add somebody before the trade deadline, I sure wouldn't be mad. But I'll dance with the girl that brung me and be excited to do it. It's a great time to be a Chiefs fan.

Oh I agree. Except for Rivers; I don't think Rivers is what he once was anymore. Watson is much more elusive. But he doesn't have the experience. However, I really think that at this point it's his mobility that gives him a slight edge over Rivers now.

Watson is a little streaky; his performance in the Saints game is an example. If he plays to that level, he's better than Rivers. He just doesn't always play like that.

Its just simple math dude. Sagarin has our SoS at 18th which is right in line with the SRS number I cited. This is fact

Isn't that a bit misleading, though? Especially early in a season?

Once we beat a team, our SoS decreases, does it not? And if we do it right, it gets worse ...

Last year, the Yags were one of the favorites to make the playoffs and we destroyed their season. They never recovered. And as their losses piled up, their contribution to our overall SoS went down. Same with the Susanna Hoffs.

I think Baltimore’s beatdown at home by the Clowns diminished our win Over them.

Does this Sagarin person (it is a "person", right?) take our opponents' prior year schedule and record into account, or no?

Its simple math that 3 out of the 4 teams weve played very well could win their division.

We had thr 6th toughest schedule going into the year. We are 4-0 without Hill, 3-0 without our LT and 2-0 without our starting RB.

Name a team that could lose all of that on offense and win every game with their defense giving up 23.5 points a game I'll wait.

We are a far, far better team than the Colts.

If we eliminate the mistakes (namely turnovers and penalties), this will not be close.

Frankly, I'm very glad we had to fight for a last-minute victory over the Lions. I personally believe we needed something like that in order to re-engage the humility sequence. This Sunday, you'll see a team that takes nothing for granted and plays every snap like it means something special ... and it won't be the Colts.

FAX
To quote the Amazing Mr. Fax I also think they needed a "wake-up" call and I'm happy to say that, thanks to St. Patrick and his 2 minute drive, the Chiefs got that call and still pulled out a win. In years past the Chiefs would have hit the snooze button and we Chiefs fans would have been lamenting a loss and in a couple of months been saying "what if" when it comes to home field and the playoffs.

GTFO, Sagarin?

Every team that we played so far CURRENTLY has a .500 or better record. I have a hard time seeing how that puts us so far down the list. We have not played any teams with a current losing record.

I'll admit that the Colts aren't that bad despite losing Luck. Brisset is an okay QB. He's no Luck but he's not bad. Still, Chiefs at home, night game, crowd fired up. I expect a blowout.

Everyone talks so much about the Colts roster, eh, I guess I don't really see it. It's potentially good and they've got some nice pieces, but meh.
