I need sand

Does anybody have any recommendations on where I could get 1.5 cubic yards of good sand for a sandbox? Several neighbors bought the bags of "Playground Sand" from Lowes and Home Depot, but it is pretty course. We saw some colored sand at the Home Show last year and I would even pay extra to get the colored stuff if I could find it. I called several bulk centers around and their sand is either for making concrete or for being a base layer under pavers.

I am not intersted in any sand from Clint's vagina.

I looked at the pile of sand, told them it was too much but they insisted it was what I needed. Before I got out of the concrete yard, the tongue of my trailer had dissassociated itself from the rest of the trailer. Thankfully some of the farmers in the church had a welder/generator that we were able to sew it back together with.

Live and learn.

that reminds me of a time I went to the sand pit/concrete place with my pick up. They ask me how much I wanted and I said, filler up! Holy cow, I thought I was going to pop all the tires, I was lucky to get home. Fortunately, it was a Dodge and not a rice burner.

Did some of the parishners have to hook on to your Toyota and pull it for you?

Dude, please!

Had I been driving a dodge, the trailer would have stayed intact because the dodge wouldn't have had enough power to pull it, much less enough power to yank the tongue of the trailer off like my Landcruiser did.

Shoot, for that matter, had I been driving a dodge, it probably would have broke down before I even got to the concrete yard, thus saving my trailer. I guess you are right, I should have been driving a dodge.

Do you have an oilfield service company in your area? If so, they have fracturing sand in 80 lb. bags. It is a very fine sand so you may want to see a sample before you buy. The beauty of it is you can buy only as many bags as you need. And you won't buy way too much and break your trailer like Pastor Mike.

I know I had an 8 ft bed totally full, they had this overhead dump, that I drove under.
It only took seconds for them to fill it, had to weigh at least a ton, on a 3/4 pick up.

None of my stuff broke, about 10 miles, but it did not look pretty.

The axles would have squirted out the sides of that Toyota.

The first Japmobile I ever saw was a Ratsun. Do they still make those? My mechanic buddy said the same owners came back every 12,000 miles to have new brakes installed. He would taunt them by saying "Yes but you get that good gas mileage to compensate for all the repairs you have to make. "

BrokenHemiEd, I had 3,790 pounds of sand in a 1,500 pound trailer with a single 3,500 axle. The Landcruiser handled the load just fine - I'm thinking that I may have even forgot to let off the parking brake before I let on the clutch too. The trailer was at almost double it's weight limit, the Landcruiser (possibly even with the parking brake set) was still able to rip steel apart as it jerked the tongue off the trailer.

I need to go check the notches on the front bumper of the Cruiser - I put a new notch in it everytime I have to pull a mopar with it. I think it has about 20 or so by now.

I am guessin, with that much weight on that Toyota, the doors were bulging out. Thus exposing the Pabst and Starkist labels, on the back side of the metal.

Them sure as some dandy bumpers, if you can put notches in them.

Hey, at least my bumpers are still on. I learned a long time ago to go easy when pulling dodges out of the mud. You can flat out yank on a Ford or Chevy, but if you pull too hard on a dodge you pull that bumper right off.

BTW, I'm guessing if your Dodge got home with all that sand it was a 10 mile down hill run to your house.

Nite Ed. I played today. Shot under 80 for the first time in my life - 79. Got a new (to me) Driver that is making a huge difference - a Taylormade R7 with the adjustable weights. I have mine set up to take off the slice and I am crushing it between 275 and 300 yards and staying in the fairway. The killer driving combined with my improved shortgame has me playing some of my best golf ever.

Say Hemi, thought I'd better check on you. Hadn't seen you since friday and was a bit concerned that you might have had car trouble and in need of MOPARts for your dodge.
