I was fortunate enough to be there. The atmosphere was unbelievable, he had the whole place cheering.

Maybe Carl could get Marcus to come into the locker room after practice and give the entire speech to the defense. That was awesome.

When I read this post, I could not help but hearken back to Marcus' Hall of Fame induction speech: IT WAS THE WORST OF THE BUNCH!!
I know this is sacrilege amongst Chief/Raider fans. However, I was there. I talked to "some relation" of his just prior to the speech. She was as full of herself as he was of himself (at least she was honest enough to say, "He never looked good in red and gold, and he’ll always be a Raider to us"). Of all the induction speeches, Allen's was by far the most arrogant, pompous, "hey, I deserve this, thanks for coming around" talks of them all. Thus, when I read this article earlier today, I had one thought: This guy can't get enough of himself! Before you blast me, let me express that I thought Allen was awesome as a Chief. Always enjoyed his performance on the field. Was stunned to hear his acceptance speech at Canton. This article just brought it all back. In a nutshell: LOOK AT ME! What? WHY ARN"T YOU LOKING AT ME?!? If anyone that was at Canton last year has a differing opinion, I'd love to hear it.

I'm sick of babying our defense, put up or shut up, you are paid to play but you gotta have heart to be great and if that means being arrogant, then be it. Be the most arrogant SOB you want to be, but back it up on the field and that is exactly what Marcus Allen did. If the arrogance has to come first before they've earned it, then fine say your the best and make it a self fulfilling prophecy. Get cocky, get arrogant and knock their damn heads off. I'm beginning to think that as many of us had hoped Gunthers cocky attitude that he had when he was before, that we hoped he still had and seemed to see in him still when he returned might have lost something. Sack up Gunther, Man Up! Make this defense realize that if they aren't capable of making themselves great then they'll be replaced by someone who will. That goes for Dick, Carl and the entire team. |

As a matter of fact, it goes for all of the fans and everyone on this board. Half if not most of us have written them off this year and we are taking crap off of people and broadcasters because we think we deserve it. I'm tired of hearing it and I'd like our whole team to take Eric Hicks' attitude with regards to everyone second guessing what has gone on here this year and offseason.
It actually makes me wish half of our team was as arrogant as Carl who could really care less what anyone thinks of the job he's done. |
