How much do you blame Alaird Baird ?

Reading from the Star articles , he mentioned no spending cap this season. Therefore , he believed if we brought in some expensive free agent bats then it would reerun the 'new' guys. But the new guys may not pan out !

No of course not, im willing to give them a chance, but do you think any of these players will have the impact that Beltran did?? I wished he could have gotten a future "Superstar" like Beltran. So far i diont see that in any of the players we got for him. They might become decent, but hardly anything special.

How do you know that? All of these guys we've traded for have some great tools to work with. None of those guys probably will become quite as good as Beltran, but in baseball it's far better to have 9 "good" players than a couple "superstars" and a bunch of other junk.... especially if you have good pitching.

Sorry, i love the Royals and want to see them succeed as much as anyone here, but color me just a little jaded after 20 years of this BS.

Well I understand that, but this is the first time we've really done this under Baird and Glass. If it fails, it fails, but I think the majority of the mismanagement of the team has come under a different GM when the team didn't have an owner. I've been screaming for us to do it this way ever since I've been on this board, so I'm glad we're finally giving it a shot, and I think Baird's stubborn enough to stick with it. We'll see.

Plus, I should add, we're actually doing it around pitching this time, which to me is the most important part of doing this...

So with Sweeney playing maybe the Royals win 50 games instead of 40?
If you are trying to only suck 80% I guess he needs to play. Sucking 80% still sucks. Who could be getting playing time with the rest of the young ones that isn't? I guess that is the way I look at it.

Baird has grown as a GM. At first he was awful, as bad as his predecessor, Herk Robinson. Last year, he stole some serious talent, getting Bautista and Justin Huber, who is one of the best-hitting prospects in all of baseball for absolutely nothing.

The reason we suck is we are still paying the price for Herk Robinson and early Allard Baird drafting strategies.

He gets some of the blame, his trades have been so so. Berroa, Teahan could be players for us. The Dye was a killer, we should have gotten an outfielder out of that. Sweeney needs to be dealt somehow we can get an outfielder and relif pitcher.

Baird got Huber, Bautista, and Leo Nunez for NOTHING; other than Dye, it's difficult to fault him for acquiring talent.

I can't believe no one is talking about Baird's comments today!

"Winning is my no. 1 priority in life. Yes, my family is important, but they are No. 2"

:|

It almost makes you wonder. A guy like Roy Williams sits there and says it doesn't matter, win or lose I'm going to play golf tomorrow. he wins the nationals champiosnhip.

Allard Baird says the Royals are the most important thing in his life. yet, they suck donkey balls!

Sometimes you wonder...

If you want some more good news, Sweeney's out of the lineup tonight with a strained oblique. When I'd initially saw he was pulled out of the lineup I'd thought we'd traded him, but I should've known better.
