The Donkeys and Schadenfreude

Whenever it comes up in conversation, I always mention that my SECOND favorite team is whoever is playing the Broncos. That answer gets a variety of often hilarious responses. But in recent years, I thought that my hatred for the orange and blue had faded somewhat....since Elway's departure.

That was until yesterday....

I tuned into the last quarter of the Giants and Donks yesterday: I cannot describe the unmitigated and utterly joyful glee I felt when Eli threw the TD to Toomer. It was absolute and complete happiness. It actually felt better than our victory over Miami...okay, well, almost. Is that sick, or what?

To derive such fabulous joy and giddiness from the misery of others would seem a bit, 'unnatural'---wouldn't you say?

I suspect a Chief's win over SD this weekend, coupled with an Eagle victory over the Donks would top it--but it's hard to imagine at this point. I hope I get the opportunity to find out.

I must admit, I as well was as giddy as a school girl when the donks lost the way they did.

I gottta say, my joy did subside once I realized the Donks had been robbed by the referees.

Fug that, a loss is a loss, they all count the same in the standings.

The folks at the Orangemane would beg to differ: the refs clearly robbed them of the victory.

No. It is not "sick" or "unnatural" when it comes to the donks losing. At least not in my world.

Probably more entertaining for me than the actual touchdown itself was when they replayed in slow motion just Shanahan during the entire play-you could actually see him age 5 years in that short time span.

as in, Joy and Tranquility will transpire in my heart regardless of the size of the victory, or whether or not said victory was directly the result of a blown call by an official.

Dammit guys. can't you read my mind?

In broad daylight too. I watched the whole game but never saw the crime take place.

You should play well enough that 1 single play doesn't make a difference in the outcome of the game.......

They got fg's instead of td's, you can't do that against a quality opponent.

That last giants TD pass was the 2nd best 5 seconds in my life.

My girlfriend knows the best 5 seconds.
