On November 22, 1963, when he was hardly past his first thousand days in office, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by an assassin's bullets as his motorcade wound through Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was the youngest man elected President; he was the youngest to die....

Just wanted to post in memory of JFK.

I was only three months old when JFK was shot, but I've always found the stories people tell about where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news interesting.

I was nearly 4 years old. I don't remember Nov. 22, but I do have a vague recollection of standing in my parents' kitchen and seeing the funeral on a little black and white TV on the countertop, that flag covered caisson rolling through DC. I can still remember the slow drum beats, and how sad everyone around me was.

Sometime thereafter, we went to DC and saw the original gravesite at Arlington, before he was moved to the current one, in 1967 I believe.

I had my eyes closed at that time. I always closed my eyes for trapeze and similar circus acts. When the Ring Leader interrupted the act, I thought it was part of the act. His announcement that JFK had been shot emptied the show. Ringling Bros/Barnum and Bailey Circus in Downtown KC on that fateful day. It was all surreal through the killing of Oswald days later. Get that blast coming home after church.

I was sitting in study hall in high school my senior year. I remember the teacher in charge announcing the news and the rest of the school day was about as somber as I can ever remember. Nobody spoke above a wisper and many girls and teachers crying.

edited for stupidity; Nov, 1963 translates to graduating class of 1964,
