I agree that Gun should have gotten to hire his own coaches, but blaming his assistants for the bad D is like blaming today's below average O on our WR coaches (for the dropped passes).

Gun calls the "plays", if you can call them that. The only way Gun is not too blame is if our front four is the worst in the league. Who knows, maybe it is, but the blame is still partly on him for not conveying that to Carl. It was in a thread earlier today, but over the last 4 years (under both Robinson and Gun), they only time the D hasn't been torched is when we got front four penetration. My thought is that neither GR or Gun has the ability to scheme unless the front four is dominant, in which case scheming is easy. Both had past success because of dominant front fours, but without them, both are terrible D coordinators.
