Green's responsibility is to run the offense...period. He's not there to "groom" anybody or make sure KC has a successor ready when it's time for him to go. Personally, I'd rather he focus on his job and leave the coaching to the coaches.

Green restructured his contract to help the team build defense and they draft a QB.
Green has a job to do. He wants to win as much as anyone. Green is not a baby sitter. If the baby QB has a question, Green will answer it. No problems here with Green. FAX |

All of the other players on the show agreed and basicly said the same thing.

Green has had a long road to being a starter, and I think he's maybe getting a little worried being the man in an offense where the coach isn't in love with him :-) I don't think Herm's gonna go messing with the only QB to throw for over 4,000 yards the last 3 seasons, but 3-4 years from now, Green will be flat out old. QB takes time, for example, IMO Phillip Rivers is starting at an ideal time.

I am curious how you guys deal when your company hires a new guy that does the same job as you. Do you go out of your way to show the new guy everything or do you let him figure it out on his own?

You want the truth?! You can't handle the TRUTH!
Well I'd rather Green tell it like it is instead of spoonfeeding us sugar-coated words that we can eat up readily. |

My guess is Trent will do a great deal to help him, and part of it starts with "tough love" of sorts, by being consistant in reinforcing that no one can help a rookie more than the rookie himself.
Once a rookie adopts that mentality, they have already learned their first very important lesson about success in the NFL. |

Why does everyone think that veterans will immediately mentor a rookie QB? IIRC We have a new OC and Trent Green has enough concerns right now with learning somwhat new plays and some new terminology, mentoring a QB that probably wont start a game for us for at least 3 seasons (including this upcoming one) is more than likely not on his priority list.
If Croyle wants to learn the ropes its up to him to show the initiative that he wants to learn. I'm more than sure that if he wants to learn from Green, that Green will be more than happy to teach him whatever he can because Trent is a fantastic teammate, but having that said, its totally up to Croyle because Croyle has to take into account that he'll be riding the pine a few seasons.
