The "stone" is made of concrete. I assume he had a form and poured it right there.

If it were me, I'd lay the stone across a mini-berm, place the first board underneath the gap (caused by the berm) and then remove the berm with a shovel.

There is a lot of talk that the pyramids might be more of a concrete construction then originally thought. The only problem is that there is no evidence they would have had enough trees for the charcoal needed.
