I think I'm Addicted...

Over the Memorial Day weekend I was really bored.

I have enough money to go to the Casino on Friday night of that weekend, so I call up a buddy and we go.

I win $120.

On Saturday I just went to a party and got drunk.

On Sunday I was bored again, called up the same buddy to go to the Casino again.

I win $ 150.

On Monday (Memorial Day), I wasn't bored, I just thought, hey I'm on a hot streak I should go again today. I call up the same buddy.

I win $280.

Then I don't go from Tuesday-Friday.

I go on Vacation from Saturday-Friday.

Today, I call up the same buddy and we go to the casino.

I win $100.

Now, winning is all and good, but to me it seems like I'm addicted, I'm even thinking about going tomorrow. What would you do if you were me?

LOL lock up your ATM card and bury your money so you don't have access. You will eventually lose your ass.

If you can't count cards, then you'll never win at blackjack in the long run. You can have some great luck for a while. You can make some good money off a streak, but you'll never have a bankable thing going in blackjack if you can't count cards. I would say ride the streak out as long as it takes you, and once you get the sense that things are changing, quit while you are ahead. Blackjack is NOT profitable in the long run unless you can count cards or otherwise work the game in your favor.

Good advice. The odds will catch up with you eventually. The wife and I gambled every night we stayed in Reno (last Saturday and Sunday and last night), and I know that it really gets to you, especially when you're winning. It was very difficult to quit last night, and we were up about $100.

If you seriously think you're developing a problem, step away before it gets to the point where you can't stop even when you lose. And lose you will.

Don't listen to all these guys. The obvious problem here is that you aren't playing for high enough stakes. If, instead of playing for $10 per hand (for the sake of discussion), you'd been playing for $100 per hand, your profit for memorial day weekend would have been $4,500. You could live pretty well on that kind of income. Sell all of your stuff and move to Las Vegas as soon as possible!

At least it's only been 5 times and a grand. The question is, have you learned your lesson? It can get quite a bit more painful if you don't have it in check. Losing is really a blessing in disguise for anyone who even thinks they're addicted to gambling.

5 times in a year and a half ain't bad.

I don't really enjoy the casino anymore anyways...dont know why.
