Gretz takes a shot at Whitlock and Jack Harry
Pathetic.
http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2007/10...stly_response/ GRETZ: A Not-So Priestly Response Oct 24, 2007, 2:28:17 AM by Bob Gretz - FAQ I must admit it was really enjoyable watching Priest Holmes run the football last Sunday in Oakland. Not that it wasn’t always fun to see Priest tote the pig in his first incarnation with the Chiefs offense; for a span of about three years he was one of the most powerful offensive forces in the game and any run or catch could turn into the play of the game. And, while his five touches totaled just three yards by the end of the game, it was just so much fun to see him back on the field and defying the pundits and those who said it couldn’t be done, wouldn’t be done and shouldn’t be done. Yes, I loved it because Priest shoved it right up the nose of some media types in this town. Specifically, he made a 4XL sports columnist and a diminutive TV sportscaster look awful stupid, not that they need much help with that on most days. The columnist made fun of everything about Holmes return to the team back in training camp, calling it a joke, a circus, a money-grab, a negotiating ploy and on and on. Not once did he consider that maybe it was something else, that maybe it was a man trying to return to what he does best. The tiny TV guy had two years earlier “retired” Holmes. Just days after Shawne Merriman had knocked Holmes out with a vicious hit, this joker went on the air and told his tiny audience that the Chiefs running back was retiring. There were no maybes, no thinking about it, no “he’s considering his options.” He flat out announced his retirement, that he would never play again. When was the last time somebody on the TV news was that wrong? OK, besides the weather folks, when was the last time a local sportscaster so screwed up a story? Then this same yakker has pontificated for the last two years that the only reason Holmes had not officially retired was because if he did, Carl Peterson would go after his signing bonus. Of course, that was never something that the Peterson or the Chiefs ever considered or would have done, but that fact didn’t matter to this rumor monger. That’s why watching Priest was so much fun. Oh how it had to burn on Sunday afternoon when these two had to watch Holmes not only play again, but contribute to a Chiefs victory. Some would say “Gretz, why make it so personal with these guys?” My answer is simple. I didn’t make it personal; they did. If you want to know why the public holds people in the media in the same level of contempt as politicians and streetwalkers, this is the perfect example. Neither one of these men knew Priest Holmes, yet they were arrogant enough to put themselves into his head and his heart and establish his future and his motives with nary a shred of evidence. They and their ilk seek the negative side of every story. Somebody is always lying, somebody is always trying to get over on somebody else, these people are withholding the truth, those folks are running a scam. Generally, somebody with that type of outlook on life is always lying themselves, always trying to take advantage of something or someone and always dealing in the shadows. They project their seedy, unhappy view of life onto everyone they write and speak about. They think “this is how I would react’ so that must be how he’s reacting. It tells us more about them than it does about their subjects. How much Priest plays and what he ultimately brings to the 2007 Chiefs we will see over the next two months. What happened last Sunday in Oakland might be as good as it gets. If so, that would be OK, Priest Holmes has too much class to gloat about making these jokers look bad. I don’t share that same level of class. I will gloat for him. |

Gretz' article was cleared by CP. That's how he got away with it.
Both Whitlock and Harry are vehemently opposed to King Carl. Gretz will get an extra donut tomorrow morning. Whitlock and Harry will sit on theirs.

Would someone please explain to me the difference between Rufus Dawes (Bob Moore) and Bob Gretz? I honestly can't.

I think his comment was along the lines of being a clown and making a joke of himself. I remember him saying Priest is going to embarass himself.

Personally I think Gretz is right on here. Why doesn't anyone hold those other guys to the accuracy and bias they report?

Gretz's lips are are so attached to King Carl's azz that you are going to need a blow torch to remove them when King Carl eventually moves on.
I get more "truth" from Jwhit and Jack Harry about the Chiefs than Gretz's PR front office schtick.

Let's cut through Bob Gretz and the Chiefs' spin and get to what really happened...
Priest sat out for a season and a half with an exaggerated injury. He found a doctor to prescribe exactly what he was looking for which is to sit out for a year and get paid and not have to do any work. Priest is a lazy, hypochondriac, selfish fraud who Whitlock has accurately exposed. Priest is basically Ricky Williams, except Priest's drug of choice is exaggerating injuries to create a situation where he can sit on his ass and still get paid. |

jack harry was not making a 'prediction', like he claims. i saw the report about holmes immediate retirement, and i dont remember how it was worded, but the impression left in my mind was that he alluded that he was reporting some inside info, not that he was personally making a prediction. he said priest was going to retire as soon as a couple days after that. harry is full of it.
