So How Many Times Did We Run on 1st Down?

Just curious as I hadn't seen the actual statistics on how many times that we run on 1st, vs throwing.

I noticed twice on first down that we passed with an empty backfield.

Is this stat freely available?

I know it sucks... I personally hate it... But it was obviously the game plan... much like the Colts last year... and the year before that... i suspect that it wasnt changed because Herm belived it was the only way to win this game...

I didn't see any bootlegs either. That usually works and it gives them something else to think about.

I don't mind running so much on first down it's where we were trying to run it that killed me. It became obvious early on that we weren't gonna be able to run up the middle against their front three. Off tackle and around the corner would have been nice. Sigh...

I'm sure that someone on the offensive line enjoyed LJ running his head up their ass.

It was the Indy playoff game all over again. This is the game plan we showed up here with and we are going to keep doing it till it works.

LJ's claim to fame was running off tackle and on sweeps with the 2005 Chiefs. Without that 4400 yd passing game, he's Clark Kent, not Superman. Bring on Kolby/Charles/Savage/Battle. If we are so stupid as to run exclusively between the tackles, at least put a RB in who can get his own yards.

A better question IMO is this: "How many times did the Chiefs run on first down with LJ in the backfield?"

If I'm New England, and the Chiefs have 1st down with LJ in the backfield, I'm putting 8 guys in the box every time.

Bootlegs wouldn't have worked yesterday, because Mike Vrabel was regularly inthe backfield before McIntosh was out of his stance.

So Croyle would have been rolling directly into Vrabel.

Bad idea.

Good time to call a fade pattern to Bowe or play action for Gonzales. The Pats showed us how it was done on their 3rd and 11 from the 1. And that was with a QB looking up at Brodie Croyle.
