OTWP was trying to argue that is was the thing to do. I say it is quitting. He said that maybe Herm was trying to build confidence in this young team getting points on the board, and confidence in the kicker. IMO it does nothing but show the young team that you as a coach has given up. As far as the kicker goes, I would say Hard Knocks shows exactly how Herm feels about kickers. Plus I doubt he was trying to build confadence in a player that he goes out and signs another at his position the following week.

Plain and simple, he kicked it to avoid a shut out, so that he wouldn't look as bad. I don't care if it is 58-0 with 10 seconds left, you go for the TD.

Yeah that was a bullshit decision by Herm, afraid of getting shutout for the 2nd straight game. ****ing pussy ass faqqot. what kinda confidence will a FG bring in that late of a game? We weren't going to win that game. He was afraid to get shuout again.

Herm is a gutless coward. Those are the kinda decisions, (like starting Thigpen against ATL) that should get you ****ing canned.

Too bad our front office is filled with incompetent ****ing reeruns.

I don't think I've ever been this pissed about a sports team...........EVER, and it's only gonna get worse.

5 minutes to go, down 27-0 and bitching because they don't go for a TD for some impossible fantasyland comeback?

Uh-huh.

Has he watched the Chiefs offense this year?

I think this deal is kind of strange. First of all, what difference does it make? We lose by 31 or 34? Where is the moral victory in a FG with 5 minutes left? Or a garbage touchdown, for that matter. So what if we don't get shut out? Does anyone really care? The final score was 34 to 10 and the stats prove it wasn't that close.

I think the time to worry about Herm's cowardice or ignorance or bullheadedness or just plain old fashioned stupidity was back around 22 games ago. It was patently obvious then that he was in way over his head in this job - at least to any objective observer.

Our problem isn't deciding between junk FGs or touchdowns or desperation passes out of bounds after getting our asses handed to us for 55 solid minutes. Our problem is that we need to go back to some basic coaching education. This is a tackle. This is a block. This is a first down. Stuff like that.

Kicking a field goal brought the Chiefs to within 3 scores too.

Exactly, IIRC it was first and goal at the 1 or 2. Reminded me of the first and 5 against the Patriots. No chance, forget about it.
