Royals Report: Francoeur for Greinke being seriously discussed - Page 2

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe has heard that the Royals and Braves are in serious discussions about a trade that would swap Jeff Francoeur for Zack Greinke.

According to one source, the only thing holding back the deal is the Braves' impending deal with A.J. Burnett. Royals GM Dayton Moore worked with a young Francoeur while the two were in Atlanta. The Royals would cut payroll with the move, but the Braves would be the clear beneficiary if this rumor has substance.

If this really happens, I'm cashing in my chips on this franchise. It would be the worst trade in franchise history, unless there are more pieces involved. Maybe Francoeur is the only name brought up because the rest of the players are in the minors.

Seriously though, I'm not above trading him. I don't like it, but I understand it. Especially if he isn't going to re-sign with us. But come on, we can get WAY more for him than this.

Oh, I have no problem trading him, especially if Moore thinks he won't sign an extension. It's not personal, just business.

However, if we trade him, we better get a hell of a lot more than Jeff fucking Francoeur.

I would hope that a trade would happen only after multiple (very serious, legit) attempts to re-sign the kid were unsuccessful. It would need to be crystal clear that Greinke wasn't interested. And we'd need to get back a lot.

No way this is real, unless the Braves are throwing in 2 or 3 more players. There have been too many sources recently saying the Royals are asking a King's ransom for me to believe some random rumor from a Boston reporter quoting an unidentified source. There are a million rumors from the Winter Meetings, 98% of them false.

This. I heard today that the Royals are asking for three major-league players and a top prospect or two for Greinke.

I could see a situation where Francouer is PART of a trade package for Greinke (I would have liked Jo-Jo Reyes, Yunel Escobar, Francouer, but obviously that deal doesn't work now). I see no situation where Greinke is traded straight-up for Francouer.

It won't effect me in the fact I don't go to Royals games unless its the STL series or it's buck night.

Don't sweat this rumor.The idea that Greinke would be traded straight-up for Francoeur is completely laughable.
