Look man... I know your shtick is to sort of pride yourself on poor grammar and such. It's pretty funny on here. If you're going to be serious as a blogger, though, you really need to work on your editing/proofing or have someone edit/proof your posts for you. It's a written medium. That being said, you might look into more podcasting/vodcasting so you don't have to do as much writing.

Once you're following a large group of people who share mutual interests, the best thing you can do is be interactive and be interesting.... retweet other's posts, respond to several people's posts per day (but don't just stalk a few people). If you want to get the word out about a blog post, I'd suggest posting it to everyone, multiple times a day... post it first thing in the morning and again in the evening, so you catch different people at different times of the day. It's not necessarily wrong to tell someone about your blog directly, but if someone scrolls through your twitter stream and notices that all you do is send your link to people and say "please rt", they're going to assume that you're a spammer and they won't follow you. |

So if you want to get people to read your Sarah Palin post, tweet something like, "See why I think @SarahPalinUSA should be the voice of conservatism"

Yep, proofreading is pretty key, kcnut. Keep working, and working hard. Somedays you won't feel like posting, and you might feel like scraping the whole project. But work through those times.

You should keep your eyes open for local conservative events in your area to report on. Perhaps it's a conservative (or liberal that you can criticize) speaker on a college campus, or a tea-party. You want to add some flavor to your blog that's more than just your opinion. Go to a tea-party, and remember to bring your camera.

Another thing you could do is have a movie review section once a week where you critique a movie from the conservative perspective. So focus on traditional values, individualism, very possibly Christianity, etc.

Also, when you criticize someone like Obama, make sure that what you write is respectable and well thought out and intelligent. Perhaps you do think "the stupid in this president is strong." But it doesn't sound as objective or worth anyone's time as much as saying something like, "The president's typical lack of substance was on prominent display last night." If you want to be taken seriously, then you have to write well.

Perhaps it might also be good to set out some sort of Purpose or Perspective on your site. You sort of have that in your About Me section: The only Commonsense Conservative that not scared of Liberal.
But I think it needs to be expanded. Perhaps you could say that you feel today's conservatives are generally lacking a backbone when it comes to domestic policies and are cracking under the pressure of the modern liberal agenda. And then list some things you feel the conservatives should be doing instead. Make them as specific as you can. |
