If the Chiefs take Berry, or Clausen, in this draft....

I'm curious.

I see so many posts that basically paint Pioli as a moron that would pass on both of these guys because they don't fit into the perception that Pioli values certain positions, or has to protect his investment in Cassel so he doesn't look like a dumbass for making that trade (that ship has sailed as far as I'm concerned, but that's another discussion).

If the Chiefs do take Berry or Clausen, does this change your perception, and how much does it change it?

If we end up with either, Berry, or Clausen, I will name my first born Pioli (and give him a nickname when he gets old enough for school), but if we pass on one or both, while I will be extremely pissed, and my opinion of Pioli will have dropped a few notches, I still won't consider this draft a failure until a cpl years down the road ,and Berry's shoulder isn't keeping him out half of the season, and Clausen isn't looking like that other Weis QB in Cleveland who was supposed to be a franchise QB.
You never know people. Don't act like you do.

We won't take Clausen. Why so many of you have convinced your selves that we will I'll never know. Now Berry on the other hand i want and I do think there is about a 30% chance we will take. i'll be pissed if we don't take him. I won't hate the org or the front office or jump off a cliff but I won't like any other pick more then Berry but the QB thing is just wishful thinking by some of you. We are not using a #1 this year on QB not gonna happen not worth talking about.

If he takes Clausen, even though I'm not entirely sold on his potential, it tells me that Pioli isn't afraid to admit he made a mistake and will work to correct it.

Clausen would have a far more positive affect on my opinion of Pioli, even though I am far more sold on Berry's potential than on Clausen's.
I would be absolutely floored if he picked Clausen, you very rarely, if ever, see a person in his position admit he made a mistake.

could be several highly thought of guys available next year. gabbert for one. i would rather have gabbert than clausen, but thats just my opinion.

If he isn't planning on his team being shitty enough to be in a position to draft one of them, it doesn't matter. If you think you need a franchise QB and you get the chance to draft one, you do it. You may think that next year's draft is better, but you have no way of knowing if you'll get a chance at one of those guys when you are on the clock this year.

I'll be thrilled if he takes Berry or Clausen.

My perception of Pioli won't change, however, until he shows he can make the right decision CONSISTENTLY.

And if he passes on either, or both, God help us all.

Would that maybe push McCoy back a spot or 2 as well?

f he felt he had to draft a 5 tec in the top 5, he should have passed on Tyson Jackson last year and waited for the opportunity to draft Suh this year.

The fact is, there's no guarantee that he'd be in postion to draft a QB next year.

He also has to look at the WR class next year and think about value over the two drafts.

uuummm yeah they do. remember when we drafted morgan? that was from watching the guy we drafted the year before. what about all the LSU guys in a row? from scouting the guy from the year before. and the draft is fluid. the pats ALWAYS have stockpiled picks to move around.

What if Weis told Pioli that Clausen, and Cassel, are basically the same dude, and we would be just as well off w/ Cassel, and O-line help. Just Sayin. We don't know these things.
Any way IMO If they are both avilable, I say you go after BOTH as hard as you can.
Package up those two 2nds and, and whatever else, and try to move back in, and take Clausen.
My God, I would shit myself.

Who are you talking about? Haven't seen anybody who believes we will take Clausen. In fact I think most people on CP understand there to be virtually zero chance of this.

Everybody looks ahead. The only problem is that 95% of the time the situation is completely different than what they thought it would be.
