We tried to figure out earlier this week exactly what was going on with unsigned Chiefs restricted free agent safety Jarrad Page.

Now we have a better idea.

In a press release sent to PFT Friday night, Page's representation said they submitted a "formal trade request" to the Chiefs on Thursday. The release notes that "Entering the 2009 season, Jarrad Page had more interceptions than any other safety selected in the 2006 draft class. Page is entering his fifth NFL season."

Page has started 39 games in four seasons and produced plenty, but it's hard to believe he would inspire much of a trade market, if any, coming off a disappointing year.

I think his new agent (relative), has pumped him full of s..., er sugarplums. My guess is his old agent read it to him straightup, and it made his feelbads tingle. If regular laypeople such as ourselves, not to mention some of the press can nail this scenario (& he's not), then he's ripe to get raped. Sad, but again, its a business. He's got his head up his ass, & now he's left standing when the music stopped.

I always liked Page, but he's a goner from KC. Just depends if Pioli can generate some trade $$'s for him. He may have to wait till the season starts & another team somewhere has injury problems...

i think Haley pissed Page off last year and then he saw what happened with Pollard so he thinks the same will happen for him.

He's just scared of competition. He knows he doesn't stand a chance against Berry as a FS, and he's not as versatile as Lewis, or Morgan. If Page wasn't such a pussy he would man up and fight for his job and MAKE Haley put Berry at SS.

"Renlight - It's killing me. I know exactly why too. He wants a long term deal and Pioli won't give it to him. He wouldn't fetch any real interest on the market because not many people know about him. He's a vicious hitter with great athleticism and good coverage skills. If another team takes a chance on him, they'll get quite the bargain. And KC has nobody on the roster that can fill in for him. We saw that last year.

Andrews - It's not locker room turmoil if the guy hasn't been in the locker room yet. He'll either get his trade or won't find any interest from other teams and stay in KC. But this won't carry into the season."
