ESPN ranks Chiefs ahead of Bills in Week 2 Power Rankings

http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings

2011 Power Rankings: Week 2
RK (LW) TEAM REC COMMENT

1 (1) Packers 1-0 If you thought QB Aaron Rodgers would cool down after the Super Bowl, think again. (Walker)

2 (2) Patriots 1-0 League MVP Tom Brady couldn't have gotten off to a better start than his dissection of Miami. (Clayton)

3 (4) Eagles 1-0 There are some issues in Philly, but offensive firepower is not one of them. (Fox)

4 (8) Ravens 1-0 Baltimore let out all its playoff frustration in a 35-7 drubbing of the Steelers. (Walker)

5 (7) Jets 1-0 Mark Sanchez should send Tony Romo a thank you card for opening victory. (Clayton)

6 (5) Saints 0-1 Effort against the Packers would have been good enough against anyone else. (Sando)

7 (13) Bears 1-0 Jay Cutler quickly got over playoff controversy with 300-plus yards, two TDs and a big win over Atlanta. (Walker)

8 (3) Steelers 0-1 Too early to push the panic button. Big Ben and his mates usually bounce back after tough losses. (Walker)

9 (10) Chargers 1-0 Mike Tolbert's three scores help offset a shaky start on special teams. Is that still not fixed? (Kuharsky)

10 (11) Texans 1-0 Things couldn't have started any better. Now, how do they react to big expectations? (Kuharsky)

11 (6) Falcons 0-1 It's tough to believe the mighty NFC South went 0-4 during opening week. (Sando)

12 (16) Lions 1-0 It must be the Lions' year if they're winning road games early. (Walker)

13 (14) Cowboys 0-1 Until Tony Romo can prove he is a clutch QB, questions about his ability to close games will continue. (Fox)

14 (12) Buccaneers 0-1 Tough loss to Detroit, but at least the Bucs lost no ground in their division. (Sando)

15 (19) Jaguars 1-0 Strong start, but dominating time of possession against others won't be as easy as it was against Titans. (Kuharsky)

16 (21) Cardinals 1-0 New defensive coordinator Ray Horton won't miss Cam Newton this week. (Sando)

17 (15) Giants 0-1 Injuries have depleted the Giants' defense, and it might be too much to overcome. (Fox)

18 (22) Raiders 1-0 Impressive work in AFC West continued with win at Denver, despite a slew of penalties. (Kuharsky)

19 (28) Redskins 1-0 Rex Grossman proved Mike Shanahan picked the right QB, at least for a week. (Fox)

20 (17) Rams 0-1 Injury situation will test the Rams' depth and mettle heading into MNF game. (Sando)

21 (18) Chiefs 0-1 Insult and injury with brutal showing against Buffalo and loss of S Eric Berry. (Kuharsky)

22 (26) 49ers 1-0 Two home games to open the season are helpful for new coach Jim Harbaugh. (Sando)

23 (9) Colts 0-1 Now in unfamiliar underdog role with Peyton Manning out and a bad opening loss. (Kuharsky)

24 (20) Vikings 0-1 It's hard to win when your QB (Donovan McNabb) throws for 39 yards. (Walker)

25 (23) Titans 0-1 New coach, new QB, same old problems in a loss to Jacksonville. (Kuharsky)

26 (24) Dolphins 0-1 Where is the commitment to the run when the Dolphins go three-wides on goal line? (Clayton)

27 (30) Bills 1-0 Looks like there may be something to Chan Gailey's four-receiver offense. (Clayton)

28 (27) Broncos 0-1 Nothing worse than losing a wrestling match with the rival Raiders. Turnovers were no way to start. (Kuharsky)

29 (31) Panthers 0-1 Cam Newton's stunning performance in opener was the ultimate silver lining. (Sando)

30 (32) Bengals 1-0 The young Bengals showed moxie in a comeback win over Cleveland with their backup QB. (Walker)

31 (25) Seahawks 0-1 Defense strong, offense weak and special teams horrible in opening defeat. (Sando)

32 (29) Browns 0-1 If the Browns can't beat the Manning-less Colts next week, it's going to be a long season. (Walker)
Glossary
The rankings were determined by a poll of five voters on ESPN.com's NFL staff: writers John Clayton (AFC East), Ashley Fox (NFC East), James Walker (AFC North, NFC North), Paul Kuharsky (AFC South, AFC West), and Mike Sando (NFC South, NFC West).

FWIW (which probably isn't much) Bleacher Report has us at 28.

Todd Haley should not be a head coach for any team in the NFL. The Chiefs are a prime candidate for regression this season and it's clear why.

In Week 1's embarrassing loss at home against the Bills, his team looked completely unprepared and disorganized. And with the long offseason, he had more than enough time to have his team prepared.

And unfortunately, QB Matt Cassel just isn't good enough to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. One good year in New England padded his statistics and made him appear more talented than he actually is.

The Chiefs received more bad news today, as S Eric Berry was declared out for season after he was diagnosed with a ACL tear in his left knee. His replacement -- S Sabby Piscitelli -- is abysmal in coverage and a severe downgrade in the backfield. He has the propensity to get beat big for large gains.

And the loss of Charlie Weis cannot be downplayed. Weis was there for only one season and he left for a reason. It's clear what that reason was now: The Chiefs aren't a good football team.

Don't expect the Chiefs to repeat as AFC West champions this year. In fact, don't even expect them to win more than six games.

Is it too early to cue the Andrew-Luck-to-Kansas-City rumor mill?

We probably are going to suck quite a bit this year, but we're not worst in the league.
SD plays at NE this week. I guess we'll see.
