A 15 year history of heart-breaking losses to the Raiders

The Chiefs have always lost to the Raiders when it mattered most. From OT meltdowns like this one to regular beat-downs like in 02, if it's a shot at the playoffs, the Chiefs facing the Raiders seems to mean defeat.

96: Chiefs looked well on their way to the playoffs. If they win one of the next 3 games, they lock up a spot. They lose to the Raiders in a 26-7 blowout and the next 2 games to miss out.

99: We should all know this one. Blowing a huge lead, going to OT and giving up the FG. Oddly, the situations played out similar to today.

02: A Chiefs win over the Raiders and a Broncos loss means a wild card spot. Naturally, the Chiefs get curb-stomped.

10: Another heart-breaker here, and while the Chiefs did make the playoffs as well as this one not being near the end of the season, this one came real close to ruining the playoff run.

11: Just happened an hour and a half ago.

The only time the Chiefs have EVER taken care of the Raiders with the playoffs on the line was 06, and the Raiders were dog shit that year. It's getting to the point where any time I see the Raiders at the end of the schedule, I just circle a loss.

To those that will probably say "dumb topic", at least let me have my rant!

Really? How many players come back with torn ACL's and come back better than 85%? Do not count on what you have seen prior.

Round:

1. QB hopefully
2. OL
3. RB
4 - 7 OL

Time to ditch the OL and rebuild. The TORN ACL GANG will NOT be the same.

Exactly. It burnt my gut for about an hour but I'm over it.

We are one player away from having a fine OL.

Albert, Hudson and Asamoah are set.

We need a RT, and we can get away with Lilja for another year.

Are you suggesting the Chiefs scrap Albert, Hudson AND Asamoah?

I knew the loss was coming as soon as the Raiders won the toss. All they need is a couple first downs and they are in Janikowski's range. Turns out they didn't even need that.

Not at all. But the geriatrics need to go. Can you not agree?

Do we not need a center, and various others on the line? Depth?

You realize there is only one geriatric on the line in Wiegmann, right? Lilja is 30.

Yes, we need depth.

But adding a RT would basically give us a solid line, provided Asamoah and Hudson don't blow chunks.

I can agree with that. But be realistic. The depth part is what will kill us in the end. Yes, no?

I am not here to bitch at a fellow Chiefs fan - I just see the inevetible (SP).

For everyone mouthing about talent, we gave up a 91 yard kickoff return that made for easy 3 points, turned it over in the redzone, turned it over in Raiders territory, had two field goals blocked and still had a chance to win the game.

Theres talent on this team. Save for 1 key spot.

Berry and a NT makes this a top 5 defense.

I think we generally hold our own against the Raiders, but this loss hurt. It was a huge blown opportunity. Our allies on the northern front obliterated their foes in the defense of Buffalo of Detroit against invasion, and all we had to do was defend our midwestern stronghold to turn the tide of the war. But alas, we failed, and all hope for humanity is lost.

Oh hell we have both had our share of pissing on each others parade, it was just our turn.

Same here.

I was in good karma mode. I turned off the tv and just kept Lenny on the radio when it was 13-6. Just in case I'm the bad luck. Anything you can do as a fan, right?

I take full responsibility for the loss because when they Dexter ran it down to the three I couldn't resist and switched back to watch the replay. Then turned it off again.

When the kick got blocked I knew we were done and I had screwed up.

Being a Chief fan isn't easy.

Yeah.

By the way, go to hell, Raiders fan.

Okay, I'm over it now. Thanks for letting me vent. Merry Christmas.
