Would You Be Upset If KC Didn't Draft A WR?

Well, the title says it all. Will you be upset if KC doesn't draft WR?

At best Cooks will be a Desean Jackson type of player. More than likely he will be a career slot receiver imo. He has no strength. He is one of the worst run blockers I have ever seen and he really struggles against press coverage. I really like Cooks but there is a big difference between he and Beckham. Cooks has good hands, has good speed, and good hands but, Beckham is the total package.

1. Watkins
2. Evans
3. Beckham
4. Lee / Mathews
5. Cooks

That's how I'd rank them.

When it comes to Beckham and Cooks, I think you guys are arguing what type of apple here, not apples to oranges. They both are fast, incredibly quick, and unbelievable in their lateral movement. I think they both high point the ball well and both catch well with their hands. Both run good routes. My opinion is that Cooks is slightly better catching the football in traffic and is a bit more of a playmaker. Either guy you go with is not a mistake. I prefer Beckham a bit because I do like that 1.5" of size difference and the 2.5" of vertical. I could rely more on Beckham in the red zone to make a play, but I don't think you'll be sorry with Cooks. One advantage with Cooks is that his deep speed is about as good as you'll ever find. So, it all depends on what you want. Neither are ideally suited to be a 1, but you never can discount the chance. As for sticking a guy in the slot because of size, there are as many good slot guys that are 6'2" 210 pounds as there are ones that are 5'9 190. I just don't think you lock a guy in the slot based on size. I really think people are making a mistake overlooking Jordan Matthews.

I'd be grinning ear to ear if we took Mathews at #23. He's the real deal and is in the mold of Keenan Allen imo. Except, I think he'll be better.

One good free agent receiver could do wonders for us, I'd be more upset if we didn't draft a TE.

The difference to me is that Cook is a finesse player and Beckham is scrappy. Cook's ceiling is Desean Jackson and Beckham's is Steve Smith imo. It really does depend on personal preference I guess. I see Beckham as being much more likely to be a starter because he is the total package. He's a good blocker and fights for the ball better than Cook imo. He's just stronger all around.

Both have great hands NO DOUBT and run great routes. The difference here is that Beckham needs the blocking ahead of him more often than not to be a playmaker whether on returns or yards after the catch. Whereas Cooks is his own playmaker whether he has the blocking or not. He literally can create his own seams because he has not only elite speed but he is that quick and can start and stop on a dime without downshifting in speed. And another thing that impresses me both about Cooks and Beckham are that they catch the ball over the middle IN TRAFFIC with great focus. Compare all the youtube clips here and you will see Cooks is more of a playmaker that could easily be a No. 2 WR and a PERFECT No.1 SLOT and potentially the offensive rookie of the year for the Chiefs this next year in a Andy Reid offense.

I disagree, I think they both have elite speed, and Beckham, while slightly slower but still possessing elite speed, is bigger and will withstand NFL hits better than Cooks will.

I'd be thrilled with either. But if I have to choose one, I think I go with Beckham.

This is one of the deepest WR draft maybe EVER.

If they don't draft a WR at all, they're just ****ing dumb.
