Thrift Store Shopping: Economical or White Trash?

I used to turn my nose up at thrift stores. It was like a huge garage sale for some organization's profit. Used everything.

But then I started losing a lot of weight. It was pointless to pay full price for brand new clothes whenever I'd shrink out of them in about a month or two anyway. I decided to give thrift stores a chance.

I'm glad I did. You know, you may have to look a little longer, but you can really find some hidden gems!

What say you? Are you a thrift store shopper, or do you view yourself as being above it?

Depends on the size of the thrift store.

It all depends on the neighborhood. I live by Troost so mine are great for speakers and flannels.

Thrift is the only way for me. I am so unorganized that my best cloths end up going to work and getting funk ed up. So thrift is good.

There are some things I just won't buy. Shoes? Uh, no. Any sort of under garments or pajamas? Nope. I'm in the market for a new love seat or chair. Finding one for cheap that's worth anything will be iffy though.

We have a huge costume store nearby. Saves a lot of time. All my other hand made costumes are in the attic. I just recycle those.

I did find a loveseat to fit an odd shaped spot in one because everything in the stores were too big. I have to get it completely reupholstered though, which I am doing.

You were white trash or you weren't before you went in. The thrift store doesn't change that.

Still have a pair of red crushed velvet bell bottoms I bought at a thrift store in 1990. We used to have Freedom Friday parties in college where everyone would show up in their best 70's ensemble.
