MNchiefsfan: Justin Houston is still an absolute monster

As per usual, it's mostly worth running over to AP to read this one and all the gifs. I'll provide a couple of the good ones as a sample, though.

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2016/1...solute-monster

(the conclusion)

I honestly enjoy watching Houston’s run defense as much as I enjoy watching him rush the passer. He’s one of the best three in the league at both, which is incredibly rare.

Now, Houston is not going to dominate every game like he dominated the Denver game. Performances like that are incredibly rare, even for great players. It’s just impossible to do it week in and week out at the NFL level (if it weren’t, the NFL sack record would be about 45 or so).

However, Sunday was a good reminder to all of us exactly who the Chiefs are getting back on defense. He’s not a good player. He’s a GREAT player, one of the absolute best in the league on offense or defense. He can do everything (I didn’t even talk about his ability to drop back in coverage without embarrassing himself), and do it at a level most players can only dream about.

Justin Houston is back, and the ceiling of the defense just got cranked up a whole lot higher.

I saw an article today from NFL.com saying how the Chargers had the pass rush to match the rest of the AFC West now with Bosa... they were comparing him to Houston, Miller and Mack.

Maybe one day, but his 4.5 sacks so far don't warrant that crown..

Right now the Chiefs have a trio of great pass rushers, Denver is right there with them, and Oakland is a step behind but Aldon Smith could help a lot... San Diego is even above average with Bosa and Ingram.

It's crazy how good they all are.

Fortunately, the Chiefs overcame and beat the Donks and the refs.
I imagine that you're right about us holding some too. I haven't seen it anywhere, but even if we did, was it as often and as blatant as what Stephenson got away with the entire 2nd half and did those holds directly lead to points in the Chiefs favor?
I agree that they got away with it more often than we did, but I interpret that as them just holding more than we did rather than the refs trying to sway the game.

I COULD definitely buy that the NFL said "If we don't let the offense get away with holding a bit in this game, it's gonna end in a 0-0 tie." or something, though.

It's definitely the personality of our division at this point. It's kind of fun, really. (But not for QB's.)

Dee Ford: 11 sacks, 39 total pressures, 306 pass rushing snaps.
Joey Bosa: 5 sacks, 39 total pressures, 221 pass rushing snaps.
Bosa>Ford.

@RealMNchiefsfan @ShawnDixon58 Ingram has 49 pressures, 340 pass rushing snaps

Maybe one day, but I'll take the sacks over the pressures... they're nice too, but you don't get paid for pressures, you're paid to sack the QB.

True but Bosa has been awesome this year and he's a rookie. He's a future 10 sack player

Definitely. Could be this year if he really turns it up..

I'd be fine with it as long as 4 are against Oakland.

At least Stephenson had the idea to try holding, Sambrailo couldn't come up with anything better than trying to stand in Houston's way.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Sambrallo wasn't cut immediately after the game. He wasn't willing to cheat to win. And in Donkeyland, that is just unacceptable. But Stephenson knew what to do to get his job back. Get in there and cheat, cheat cheat. He showed the coaches that he is willing to put the honest play he learned in KC behind him and do things the Bronco way. What a guy.
