What does what Berry does have to do with Thomas? Using this logic, no player should ever retire because no matter what, what Berry went through is worse than what they've went through.

Thomas is one of the most quiet and humble players in the league. Him and Jamaal Charles are best friends. You guys sound stupid if you think he's just seeking attention by contemplating retirement.

Yeah, getting out on social media during a game is just being a good teammate.

Nobody goes onto a public forum and starts talking for any reason other than seeking attention.

I don't care if he's a quiet, humble person in general. Tweeting about retirement mid-game while your players are out there battling it out is nothing more that being an attention whore.

And if you don't think comparing Thomas talking about retirement to Berry coming back from cancer - two players who play the same position and came out of the same draft....and have pretty much been linked their ENTIRE career - isn't a relevant point of discussion, then my friend you're on the wrong website. That's absolutely a contrast worth pointing out.

Literally the only thing that connects the two is that they play football and play at the same position. That's it. One may be more passionate about football than the other. One might have more personal things affecting him than the other. One might have bigger goals in life than the other that don't revolve around football.

What Berry did was amazing and one of the best football stories in NFL history. That doesn't mean that other players at his position don't have the right to retire or contemplate retiring early because of it. That literally makes no sense.

I could be wrong, but you're a lawyer right? Does what another lawyer in Seattle does have any bearing on the decisions you make in your career?

No! Berry had cancer and came back so this guy should come back! Until he goes through something worse than Berry, he can't retire! Because reasons!

And are the two best guys at their position who came out of the draft in the same year and are ALWAYS discussed in the same breath. There are few players more readily comparable in all of football than Earl Thomas and Eric Berry and trying to argue otherwise is just ****ing stupid.

For me? No, because I'm no sort of public figure. But for the PI attorneys that are out there chasing high end, high publicity, big money cases? You bet your ass the decisions guys in their sphere make effect them.

You just sound obtuse as hell right now. These guys are perfect analogues. You may have a whole slew of explanations for why they behaved differently but to act like it's unfair to compare them is just ridiculous.

Yes in terms of play and play style. But what does one have to do with the other in terms of retirement? Are you really saying that he shouldn't retire because what Berry went through was worse? ....uh...why?

When it comes to retirement I don't compare the two. I don't think any less of Patrick Willis or Calvin Johnson for retiring when they did and I won't think any less of Earl Thomas if he retires. What Berry did has no bearing at all on his decisions.

Are you a Texas fan or something? Why is Earl's Pearl so firmly lodged down your throat?

You're missing the entire point of this-- the TIMING of his tweet (the fact that he's even tweeting at all while his team is playing on national ****ing TV) and the vague subject matter, again, DURING the game. He's attention whoring. Just because he rarely behaves this way doesn't mean he's not doing it now.

He's looking for sympathy. Is that understandable considering what just happened to him? Maybe. But is he still guilty of attention whoring? Absolutely. I don't see how you could argue otherwise.

I'm saying he shouldn't be on social media yapping about retiring mid-game. And the optics of doing so mere hours after your nearest counterpart in the NFL - a person that came back from cancer - won a game for his team are just shitty. Trying to deny that there's an obvious point of comparison there is just being militantly obstinate.

Retire, don't retire - whatever. He's a zillionaire and football is hard, taxing work. He could retire because he just doesn't want to play anymore and he'd have some justification for it (though I'd still say that Berry is a hell of a lot more dedicated to the game if he did and have ample cause for doing so).

But don't get on social media during a damn game and make it all about you. That's all that was - attention whore bullshit. Wah - you're hurt. So are a couple dozen other guys that played this week and they aren't all on Twitter during a game talking about walking away.
