I just don't like the corners enough or else I'd call this defense a top 10 unit going into next season. Love the LBs group and the Dline will be decent.

Berry is way more important to the defense than Peters was. Peters stripping the ball bailed him out of numerous deep gains. That's not a good defensive back. He's not a complete player.

Berry was wrecking people in NE before he got hurt. He's a run and pass stopper (unless that person is Gronk but what are ya going to do with that dude). Peters is a pussy.

Berry was coming in and hitting people like a heat seeking missile before he was hurt.

His record from 2010 on shows after an injury season he's come back with a good or great season. Let's hope the trend continues.

Our best pass defense under Reid (statistically) was the 2014 bunch. The CBs were Sean Smith, Chris Owens, Jamell Fleming, and Philip Gaines... the current group is better than that. We just need more from the front 7. We need more intensity from that side of the ball as much as anything.

If they play with tenacity, the defense will be vastly improved. I already believe they are much better in terms of overall talent.

Peters is gone and is a headcase so it is what it is

But the dude was super important and was a great player at creating turnovers and playing corner.

I would also say it depends on if we have to play against 2 teams on Sunday or one.

and-when we play a team-are they about to lose their fanbase? Raiders, Giants, Jets. And us losing means the other team makes money.

Conspiracy-NFL

I am very excited to watch our offense. Worry about the defense.

Top 3 reasons why nobody can predict the next season:

1) Injuries (on the Chiefs)

2) Injuries (on our opponents)

3) Injuries

Bob Sutton had a bunch of scabs like Parker, Sorenson, Zombo, Murray, Gaines, DJ and Tamba’s corpses and Revis last year and he still coached that pile of dog shoit to embarrass the Raiders and Chargers.

The Chiefs finally invested a ton of resources into their defense and it should be better than last year. EB alone will make us better.

Pat Mahomes needs to play very well...and by very well I mean exceed everyone's expectations. Needs to be better than Andrew Luck coming into the league, I think last year's @DEN game really helped from a confidence standpoint. Hope it carries into this yr.

Defense has to play well, or at least bend just enough not to break, need to keep teams out of the endzone.

If KC fails at either, the Chiefs probably stay home in Jan. Personally I have more faith in Mahomes/right now than I do w/ the D right now. I think the defense is a couple yrs away from being SB worthy. Outside CB's are VERY concerning, esp if Houston/Jones/Ford aren't getting to the QB which is something i expect to occur.
This is a really dumb take.

The way you describe it, either working would be enough. If Mahomes is God-like -- even better than expectations, which are high -- it won't matter how bad the D is. The NFL is Tecmo Bowl, VERY few teams will outscore us if Mahomes delivers. And even fewer have defenses good enough to stop elite QB play.

And if the D is competent enough, then Mahomes doesn't need to be other-worldly for us to merely make the playoffs.

I am expecting somewhere in-between. I think the D will be terrible. I think Mahomes and the offense will be very, very good, but probably not to the level where we'll just blow everyone up.

I can't believe how many people are focused on defense in general, though. The NFL is simply all about offense at this point.

Jags 45 Steelers 42

Patriots 33 Eagles 41

I couldn't care much less about the defense. I'm all-in on Mahomes throwing lasers to our elite cast and Hunt continuing to beast in year 2. If those things happen, no team in football will want to play us, period.
