Well, injuries did not help the situation, that I will concede. But at the same time, I'm not a fan of Speaks being moved to OLB. I don't see why Veach and the coaching staff believes he's a OLB.

I see him as a true DT, occasional DE. Not a OLB.

Either way, these two didn't contribute much as your top 3 round picks should be doing, in my opinion.

People want to give him all the credit for Mahomes even though he wasn't the GM in the 2017 Draft. He was very high up the chain in scouting at the time and Mahomes is not the only player he helped them draft.

Reid is mostly to blame though. I think he very much has control over the roster and it's just not in the kind of shape it needs to be for a championship. Not just the defense either. The OL isn't very good.

Chris Jones contributed damn near nothing his rookie season. You're just not going to find immediate contributors all too often when your first pick is #45. With that being said, there are some gaping holes in the defense this time around, with spots needing to be filled at all 3 levels of the defense. If Veach can't find a starter this year, he's got to go.

Well the guy that signed that deal is the one that has to fix this defense...he thought Hitchens would be the captain of the defense...think about that.

I made this comment and I'll stand by it, by the time they can shed bad contracts and find enough players to make this a good D, Mahomes will be due to get paid...
