NFL MVP vs SuperBowl Winning Team

The NFL MVP winner has not won the SuperBowl since Kurt Warner won the NFL MVP in 1999 and won the superbowl in 2000

Lamar Jackson is winning the MVP but odds are against the ravens winning the SuperBowl

And if they defend the run, he's got a good enough O-line to buy him time to deal with the pressure. Against good teams, though, it's a different story:

Lamar Jackson has PASSED against some of the best and worst PASS defenses in the NFL

LJ in 7g vs teams ranked 20th or worse by DVOA: 124 of 174, 71.2% comp, 1,658 yards, 24 TD, 0 INT, 9.5 Y/A

In 7g vs teams in top 15: 121 of 196, 61.7%, 1,231 yards, 9 TD, 6 INT, 6.3 Y/A

He struggled against KC at a time when our pass defense had not really gelled. We are much better now against the pass. And the 49ers and the Bills showed that if you use your pass defense and do not give him time to make plays, he has a hard time making plays. Notice that <30% of his TDs came across teams in the top 50% of DVOA. Unlike a certain PMII.
Really solid Frozenchief. Can't wait for the AFCCG.

Since the Pats have been in so many SBs, it kind of highlights that the Pats are at their weakest when Tom is called on to shine brightest.

MVP is a QB award.

Offensive POY is for RB/WR’s.

I have no clue what you’re getting at here. Your math makes no sense. If you’re trying to suggest that we’re limiting MVP to one player per team that would give you 1/32 chance. That’s pretty pointless too. Odds of any given team winning the super bowl aren’t ever 1:1.

No matter regardless.

If a team requires a ****load of stats passing (that’s what the MVP has been) that means they either can’t play D or can’t run the ball. Those teams aren’t set up the best to win the bowl. Teams that win the Super Bowl pretty much get plays from all 3 facets of the game.

Well, the Ravens are a bit of an oddity.

#2 in total offense (yards) @ 409.7 per game
#1 in points per game @ 33.7
#1 in total rushing per game @ 202.1
#25 in total passing per game @ 207.6

#6 in total defense (yards) @ 314.3 per game
#5 in points allowed per game @ 18.1
#9 in total passing yards allowed per game @ 218.1
#6 in total rushing yards allowed pre game @ 96.1

#6 overall in turnover ratio @ +10

Despite being the #25 passing offense, Jackson is #1 in the NFL with 33 TDs and only 6 INTs (66% completion). Add to that, he's #5 in the NFL total rushing with over 1100 yards and another 7 TDs.

I don't know how the past regular season MVPs break down with comparitive team stats for offense and defense, but damn... the Ravens are consistently dominant in damn near every category. And, I would imagine they are a lot different than the other situations with regular season MVP and what happens in the SB.

They are going to be an incredible matchup for any team in the playoffs... very hard to beat. And, yes - KC beat them @ Arrowhead by 5 in week 3 and both teams have had their issues and improved in various areas since then.

The Ravens are maddening.

It IS going to happen this year, RB Lamar Jackson is going to win it.

I'm just saying there are 12 teams in the tournament if you count WC. The league MVP is usually one of those twelve teams. I brought up a similar point once on PatsFans where I noticed Qbs who throw 42+ (or was it 43?) rarely win SB. I was basically destroyed by a couple posters because they told me theres a 1/12 chance. So that is where my logic comes from. I admit my old opinion fits OP opinion, but 2-4 longtime fans blasted me for a similar opinion so I just assumed I was likely wrong.
