Not sorry to see him go. I know nothing about the return they got and don't care. I won't miss his bases loaded no outs strikeouts.

Say what you want about the guy, but he has the Royals record for home runs. Not many guys we've ever had can ops .925, either. Problem is he can't hit a baseball, and at 29 it's not likely going to get better but this kind of power doesn't grow on trees. In the history of baseball, there is like 30 people who have ever hit 50 HRs.

Seemed like Martin Maldonado made himself tradeable a couple years ago when he had a couple weeks of hitting in June-July after being well below the Mendoza line until then.

Instead of getting rid of our good players why don't we get rid of our god Damn coaching????? Soler has the potential to be a star and our coaches sit on their asses

He hit 48. Not 50

He’s just an all of nothing hitter. Swings for the fences. He’s not a true hitter. But a lot of guys are like that. Flashy Power numbers get you $$$

He had a lot of torque in that swing. Had a great year, that in the long run really meant nothing. Good Luck to the guy.

He did give us a respectable single season home run record. Wasn’t the old record like 36 until Moose hit like 37 or 38. Pretty sad for that to be a franchise record.

Hot Take: Maybe we should have kept Davis in 2017 instead of trading for Soler. We would have had a better April and may have been closer to contention. Plus we would have gotten a draft pick when he left the following offseason for FA. Although as other have said it is nice having a respectable home run record and Soler's hr chase was one of the only interesting Royal storylines in 2019.

The reality is that we're up against teams working with 3 times our payroll or greater. And if their roster isn't already stacked enough, clubs like the Dodgers will just poach several top players to address any needs.

Our GM has 0 margin for error if we expect to even compete with a team like the Dodgers.
Until MLB gets a salary cap and revenue sharing, it's always going to be like this. Teams like the Dodgers and Yankees can afford to buy playoff/WS passes every year while the Royals and others must hope they can develop players cheap enough to compete once or twice in 30 years. Then they have to watch as those players leave for a bigger contract.

The Yankees have only won the World Series once in the last 20 years, and they haven't even been in more than a decade. Money doesn't always guarantee success.
