I remember back in the late 80s, KY102 had JJ Walker and the guy that owned the comedy club in Westport, on their morning radio show to promote JJ's stand up gig that weekend. I'm quick with the mute button when I happen to be watching live TV, which I try not to... even for those 30 second break-in bullshit in game commercials.

Haven't noticed Medicare stuff, but pretty sure if I was driving or sitting in a restaurant or walking down a street and somehow heard the cackling of a Discover card commercial, I'd reach for an imaginary remote, that's how often I mute that shit (approximate 4000 times per live sporting event).

I DVR literally everything. Wait 30-45 minutes, then start watching. No commercials, no halftime breaks, no period breaks for NHL, none of it. Fast-forward through all of it.

I even DVR the 4:30am local CBS news broadcast so that when I get up at 5am, I can fast-forward straight to the weather. If you watch less than 5 minutes of something you have on DVR, they don't get ratings credit for it. So I make sure I only watch the 3 minute local weather spot and then delete it.

Yep, that's the way to do it... I'll watch live sports to keep up with chatter here sometimes or texts, but there's generally a "watching live or recording?" starter over text.

I'm very rarely only watching TV though, so if I'm not live it's mute + internet for a few minutes.... with the downside being that sometimes there are so many damn commercials that I'll get distracted and realize 20 minutes later that it's still muted (then I can just rewind and skip through it).

That sounds like a good idea, but I just don't care enough to actually do it.

We DVR the new network shows that we watch. The wife has several shows, but the last show on TV that I give a crap about is Blue Bloods. Seems like everything else is woke garbage.
