NFL is Rigged: Week 18 edition

The CP consensus is that the NFL is rigged. Welp, as such, I think it’d be great to discuss this week’s script.

The NFL is rigged, so this should be easy. As easy as predicting a WWE In-Ring interview being rudely interrupted by a rival with a steel chair.

Call your shot, what kind of week 18 shenanigans is the NFL up to?

Las Vegas vs L.A: Which new stadium does the NFL prefer? TWO teams in L.A make the playoffs?

Will the NFL write in a tie game sending BOTH to the playoffs?

Will they sneak the Steelers in for one last hoorah for Ruthlessraper?

Or will they write in Lamar Jackson because he generates ratings?

Will they give the most prestigious player (Mahomes) the #1 seed, or do they want to see the Chiefs in the WC round for extra ratings?

Exactly.

For anyone who watches (or watched, if you're an adult now) the WWE, their scripts are laughably predictable.

If you've watched the WWE enough, you can predict just about everything.

If the NFL is scripted/steered, we should easily be able to identify emerging patterns and determine if the "rigged" is motivated by ratings or by Vegas.

The Vegas vs Ratings debate seems to be one that skeptics can't agree with each other on, or even agree with themselves on.

The league doesn’t want a broken Ravens/Jackson team in the playoffs as they don’t want Jackson to further get embarrassed which would definitely happen with his lingering issues. Look for the Steelers to get the calls in that one and win a game where you realize you have no idea how they won.

Speaking of the Steelers I don’t think they are going to be getting calls for their benefit. It’s just to ensure the Ravens don’t get in. For the Steelers to get in the Colts need to lose so of those teams the Colts are more desirable for the playoffs because of contrasting styles to other teams, specifically the Chiefs who they would play in round one. So the Colts will win comfortably.

That would make for a Herbert vs Allen WC matchup as well.

Which set of games would the NFL prefer and why?

The other half of this is coming back to say how the predictions worked out, not just the win/loss factor or "penalties were 7 to 4!" ...but, pointing out the steering/rigging with specific penalties that support the predictions.

It's always completely reactionary (and almost always related to the Chiefs losing) or a generic "this team was supposed to win the SB that one year" with no actual substance as to how it happened..... we never get the entire picture.

There's a huge difference between the entire league actually being rigged/scripted WWE style, and certain games being steered in a particular direction via officiating to achieve a desired result in instances that benefit ratings and/or the league as a whole as the shot callers see fit.

It's mind boggling to me with the money involved in this whole thing that some people actually still believe there are a bunch of choir boys running the show that wouldn't dictate certain results if they see a reason to. It's not like the players and coaches are involved and given some kind of script like it's a damn movie. Nobody is saying that, or if they have, they're taking it too far.

As with much of life, very few things are black and white, there is mostly gray area. As usual though, you're just called a "conspiracy nutter" if you don't believe the exact narrative you're being fed. Most of the time, almost always actually, the truth lies somewhere in between.

There is no concensus as to how and why the NFL is rigged, therefore all theories are acceptable in this thread.

This isn't a thread for people to be defensive, it's a thread to call your shot and put your money where you mouth is BEFORE the outcomes are determined, not after.

In fact, it will be the Chargers vs Eagles in the Super Bowl if you're following the money.

That does make some sense if you view the NFL as rigged towards large market teams. Though i'd question how important the Chargers are to their market, and i'd venture to say the Rams would receive higher ratings in their market than the Chargers.
