Poop I had what I felt was a wrongful ticket - Page 2

So I've never had a ticket in my entire life. I understand it happens. I drive home somewhat late every Wednesday because the boys and I do a podcast that night every single Wednesday for the past 2 years. Therefore I understand I'm more of a target on the road being that there's less traffic, and that's fine.

I was leaving Quik Trip in Lenexa, and getting onto a highway to head west towards my house. I was shortly afterwards pulled over by Lenexa PD (In training) to cite me for an illegal wide turn. I have driven the same way since I was 16 years old. Never once had an issue with the way I turned. Anyways they pulled me over and accused me of also not using my turn signal which also added to my "illegal lane change". I've been furious and I requested the video evidence which I paid $35 for. Of course the evidence shows nothing of the actual violation that they sent me. Only the actual stop of my vehicle. I also noticed on my police report they wrote down my wrong address and as well as the wrong date of the stop. The said June 7th instead of July. I don't know if those things matter or not.

So anyways my question is, as I believe this is a bogus claim by these officers, what's the best options to win on this ticket? Those of you with experience I'm curious of your thoughts. The video here really makes no difference but I'm posting it here anyways. And it's extremely boring past the stopping point.

It’s most definitely a racket. I haven’t gotten that many tickets, but I have to get an attorney every time I do, especially because I have a CDL. I tried to fight a warning of radar ticket a long time ago by going to court by myself, but just ended up getting stuck with the fine, plus court costs, and getting lectured to by some hillbilly judge. Going to court for a traffic ticket is just a huge waste of time and effort.

I don’t know if Kansas has such a thing, but you can choose to do online traffic school and pay a reduced fine and the ticket is taken off your record(for non CDL drivers) in Florida.

You need to point out that if they put the wrong address and the wrong date that is a good indication they also pulled you over incorrectly. I would also check the code of the infraction and make sure that is correct. Sounds like a couple of hayseeds tax collecting.

I agree sorry the others, it’s probably not worth fighting the ticket.
At this point, your best option is to find out where the cop lives and have an affair with his wife. It won’t make up for the ticket, but you’ll feel much better about it. YMMV.

I had never heard of an illegal wide turn. I Googled it and this is what turned up:

"What does a wide turn mean?
Wide turns are exactly what they sound like: when you swing out past the lane when turning, causing you to need to straighten out when you enter the lane."

It appears your maneuver from about 0:22-0:27 is the perceived infraction.

That's total bullshit lol

They probably thought you had been drinking and just pulled some random dumbass infraction out of their ass. A great deal of police work is glorified tax collection and you just got nicked.

This sounds like complete crap. You may get nowhere trying to fight it, but I'd want to have my day in court to call it out before just accepting it.

You could go to court, but likely the trainee will show up for court as well. Might as well pay the ticket.

They did however get an extra $35 bucks. Just pay the ticket an move on before they get more out of you.
